When John initially saw the chair, he said to Mrs Hudson something along the lines of, " Why does Sherlock think I'm going to be living here again?" That, to me, was meant to be prophetic.

In the books, Mary dies, and John moves back in to 221b. As I recall, he does this a few times over the years (in between wives!), and before 'The Sign Of Three' I would have said it was a given that this Mary would eventually be killed off. But they've introduced a baby, so what happens if Mary dies? Nappies and bedtime stories in Baker Street? I honestly have no idea how they will proceed now. Regretfully, we may have seen the last of the flat-sharing days.

I love Mark Gatiss' Mycroft. Deffo my favourite character.
Another quality series.
It's bad enough having to wait over the course of a summer hiatus to find out exactly how a show will continue its plots but the fact we have to endure two years (I'm guessing) for more is truly excruciating.

So all you need to beat Sherlock Holmes is a good memory?

If the fictional Molly had been taking drugs, then yes, I don't mind what sex gets a slap for doing something so stupid.

Yes. But it has to be a living one.

The latter surely, because once you'd told people where the alleged something was, you'd be at risk of them targeting you and that place.”

But he hadn't told anyone where the vault was. It wasn't until he was boasting to Sherlock that he confirmed anything about the vault. It was still supposition. And as another poster had pointed out there was no guarantee there wasn't any copies anywhere.

I wouldn't tell anyone they were in my cellar or in a secret location just like he didn't.

Loved the last episode, brilliant writing, it's not just the plots it's the little bit of humour that makes this show superb. so Mrs Hudsons husband was a major drug dealer but she only did the typing,so that's alright then. loool
I would like the next series to have a heckler to Johns online blog,so Sherlock and Watson can take the pee out of all the armchair critics.

He didn't beat Sherlock.

I get the feeling that Sherlock realised there was no vault when he borrowed his glasses. All he was trying to do was get him to admit there was no vault.

I don't think getting a bullet in your head is a sign of beating anyone either.

I agree, and the inference was that Mary would be killed in this episode. What a faux pas then by Moffat not to place Mary in any jeopardy whatsoever throughout the rest of the episode and even to show a flashforward to Christmas when she's heavily pregnant. It was totally undramatic and...OH LOOK, IT'S MORIARTY!!!!!

Either that or the scripts for series 4.

Did you catch her comment about You Tube? It wouldn't surprise me if there's people searching You Tube for those as we speak.

That did raise a smile, but superb humour, really?

Very strange.”

2 reasons:
1) I was hoping it would be better
2) I was interested to see how the series was resolved.

and actually a third - just to shut the f*k saladfingers up with his over and over questions of "have you watched it yet?"

They were though. Mycroft was terrified at the thought of Sherlock investigating Magnusson.
He was frightened of him, when he could easily have 'sorted him out'.

I liked the episode but the Appledore /Magnusson premise I thought was a weakness.

Even if it's played for laughs? One of Moffat's favourite motifs is men being physically assaulted by woman, for laughs. Happens all the time in 'Doctor Who'.

He isn't playing Holmes and she is't playing Watson. They just happen to have the same names. He is an unshaven mess who twitches. She is an Asian female.

I've said the same about this latest series on BBC1. It's not Sherlock Holmes is any form I recognise. It's just a former soldier and his freakish friend, who happens to have the name Sherlock Holmes.

So they didn't need Sherlock to sort this one they could have got Grant Mitchell.

In essence, if I was of a cynical disposition, I'd be suggesting that Moffatt has latched onto the "Lost" methodology of just chucking in wtf moments to gloss over plot inadequacies.

Another problem I have with this show is how easily Sherlock is fooled now. Two characters outsmarted the world's greatest detective in one episode? Come on!

Onto the positive stuff. Did anyone else think CAM was an awesome character? Some may consider him a villain but he was more of a ruthless yet very smart businessman. He was extremely creepy as well. Licking a woman's face, pissing in a fireplace and flicking John's face? LOL!

And he's dead....
