I don't know whether this has already been posted or not, but here is what Steven Moffat said at the Bafta preview screening re. the possibility or otherwise of a Series 4/5

I suspect Molly and Mary will die. I don't trust the person Molly was engaged to. He must have some role otherwise why include him and so far has done virtually nothing (unless I have forgotten something).

Just loaded it up again.

This one?

The shot started right on the 'make believe' before focussing on Sherlock. Definitely intentional.
Yes, that's the one. Thanks.

Sherlock has to have done some research on the background of Mary as he has done for others, so surely Sherlock must know what is going on.

Was that Sherlock's Gammon with pineapple, egg and chips?
Yes. And chips, chips everywhere this series.

Isn't John gay?
Noooo. No, he isn't.

Now I'm off to see him as Bilbo Baggins; and Benedict as Smaug, of course.

which is ... what ?

.
I believe the answer given to Anderson is the correct (and final) version of what happened.
For me, the overall scene was to also reflect that whatever explanation he gave, it wouldn't be accepted as the truth by everyone. Cleverly done I thought!

HOW DID HE SURVIVE THE JUMP OFF THE GOD DAMNED ROOF?!

I can't be the only person who is irritated to distraction with everything else until this is answered. Jesus.

The air bag jump seemed the most likely I thought.

They'd better not dare kill Molly or Lestrade off.

Mary I can live without.

You do realize you're giving the exact same response as Anderson did at the end of that scene?!

How about the ultimate one.
They kill everyone in the ultimate locked room mystery ever!
Everyone is in the same room, camera shifts outside, the room explodes, it's assumed by the authorities everybody is dead! How did they get out?
All i have to go on is why Sherlock mentionned that concept of 'the ultimate locked room mystery' in TSOT.
Not much, i agree. And a crazy theory.

Agreed.

I mean, Mary's already dead at this point in the books (though don't know how closely they'll stick to canon given that Watson ends up getting married four times, I think). I wish they hadn't had her get pregnant though

(actually anyone but Lestrade, if only to continue my ridiculous crush on Rupert Graves. He's lovely )

Molly better not even graze her knee, never mind die !!!! She is the heroine of Sherlock for me !!

As for Mary… now then…. a lot of clues were there in the last episode and even the first one. Among all the traits that Sherlock saw on meeting her, the word LIAR was there… anyone notice that !! I'm betting its liar in a good sort of way… not anything evil…… UNLIKE lets face it….. her father.

Yes father….. thats the next thing that jumped out at me when Sherlock, Mary and John were going over the seating plan, and Sherlock commented that her side of the room was a bit sparse. She said thats what you get when you are an orphan, and that she would have to try to fill it with friends. The split second she said it…. I knew she was not an orphan.

Next massive clue….. the reading of the telegrams…. everyone of them laughed at except one….. wishing her good luck and sorry he was not there…. CAM. yes ….. CAM is what Sherlock said…. and all together now…… who is the new evil massive baddie next week……

Charles Agustus Milverton !!!!!

Elementary my dears !! Mary's daddy is a baddie !!!

Very good. And i assume you haven't read all the posts (me neither, only from page 70 part2). But it has been mentionned before.

I like this version of Lestrade very much but i see many people are passionnate about him. How about a spin-off with Lestrade. If he survives the next episode of course.

If they have to kill off anyone, I could live without Anderson. I could also get unseemly pleasure from the extreme humiliation of Mycroft.

Lestrade's assistant has been with us since Series 1, Ep.1, so not being introduced now as a replacement.

I LIKE MARY. I will be very upset if she goes.

Probably stating the obvious but the bank robbers in episode 2, Lestrade couldn't understand how they were always able to get away in time and I wondered whether it was his assistant tipping them off. Haven't liked her ever since she accused Sherlock!

All so exciting! Can't wait for Sunday!
I'm not sure what I think about the fate of Mary yet. On the one hand it would be very emotional and dramatic etc. if she dies but then if she did die I'm not too sure where this would leave John though. I mean he will have lost his wife and unborn child, that is something that changes a person drastically. How could he just carry on running around London solving crimes with Sherlock?
Also, the first thing everyone seems to have thought about Mary is that she wouldn't survive the series. It's the obvious answer based on the supposed clues we have been give so far. Would the writers really go for the obvious? I think they might be leading us to believe she may die and then have some twist where perhaps they lose the baby but she lives.
Whatever Mary's outcome, I still think it will be one of the series finest episodes.

Perhaps it will strenghten his desire to catch criminals if he lost his beloved and child to one.
