The Supreme irony is that Mark Gatiss tweeted yesterday that he'd just seen Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight' which, whilst enjoyable, he complained was too pleased with itself...

The one with the suicides and the pills, and the taxi driver. |

Solution ; A frankly bizarre suicide/murder/suicide aided by her pals who were all gals being persecuted by brutish men...Boo !!! Hiss! Holmes lets them all off.
I thought the whole thing was excellent. |

The Woman in Red was it not? With the dodgy taxi driver.
Now, that was good. You are right about the taxi, except it was called A study in Pink.

Well of course it is utter rot...all fiction has always been that. It really just a matter of whether you can understand the utter rot, accept it is utter rot and are smart enough to just enjoy it for what it is.
It was enjoyable utter rot. |

Me too.... I'm starting too have very little time for anyone critizies either doctor who or Sherlock for being 'too clever'.
Nothing can be 'too clever'. Maybe these sorts of shows aren't for these people.... Oh and the spelling is criticizes..

No. It was utter rot.
Which means neither is an absolute truth. Just a matter of perspective. |

Whether he let them off or not is moot. The solving of the crime is imaginary anyway, so how he chooses to deal with the culprits is irrelevant to both the plot and to sherlock, hence it not being shown.
I thought the whole thing was excellent. But then he would let them off, since he murdered somebody himself in cold blood at the end of last season, which is what this dross tonight was meant to make us all move on from. |

So because we didn't enjoy it because it was messy in the last half hour we are automatically put in the dumb sub section?

In your subjective opinion. Mine is different.
Which means neither is an absolute truth. Just a matter of perspective. But I am not having anyone suggest that I am neither clever nor intelligent enough to know what I like, and don't like. If you liked it then fine. I don't judge you because you do like it. I don't expect to be judged by anyone because I didn't like it. |

I think the only joke is you... oh I'm sorry that was rude of me please do post more about your BBC conspiracies and insecure fears about females..
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-26107011 If any BBC boss had ever said "No all-female panel shows" he probably would have been sacked. But this is basically now BBC policy. Complete double-standards. Also, no all-male Top Gear (Sabine Schmit has now joined), no all-male Sherlock. But two female presenters on Strictly is absolutely desirable it seems. Just double standards. |

It was an entertaining hour, but at the end of it I'm not sure what the point of it was.
I'm afraid Moffat has gone down the same avenue he took Dr Who down a series or two ago ... lots of smoke and mirrors, witty dialogue, covering up overly complex plots, that don't provide much in the ways of answers. Call me old fashioned but I'd like a simpler plot with a beginning, middle, and most importantly, rounded ending next time. With Matt Smith it wasn't too bad but now since Peter Capalidi's come in it's got even stranger. I miss the days of the old simpler plots with David Tennant. Go in Tardis to a random place at a random time. Witness a strange event. Figure it out. Fight the baddy. Live happily ever after. Go home in Tardis again. |

Its not some evil conspiracy by the BBC to deny men and weaken them or whatever insecure manists think, its about both genders being represented like they should as that reflects the reality of life and is the right thing to do. |

Yes I'm well aware, but I'm struggling to see why this is a bad thing... its only bad to people who fear women getting the chance to be represented, who fear equality between women and men due to their own insecurities or just plain rotten core.

Where's the 'equality' in repeatedly showing a female slapping a man across the face?

Yes I agree about that about Dr Who. Since David Tennant's left the plots have become more and more bizarre, with quick witted dialogue with no structure at all. I've forgotten what the Christmas Dr Who Special was even about. This strange creature with his head and body separated. One minute on a spaceship the other on a weird planet where he and his wife live heavily ever after. You struggle to make sense of it all.
With Matt Smith it wasn't too bad but now since Peter Capalidi's come in it's got even stranger. I miss the days of the old simpler plots with David Tennant. Go home in Tardis again. ![]() I found this years DW episode to be very straight forward and easy to understand... though I agree in previous series Moffat has written some messy stuff... though I won't say strange, for me DW isn't strange enough, it should be a lot more weird and alien. Anyway that's off topic... I thought this Sherlock episode was easy enough to understand, there's been previous Sherlock episodes that were harder to get ones head around.. so not sure where the complaints are coming from on that front, maybe people won't paying enough attention, I don't know. |

'What the hell just happened?' Bewildered Sherlock fans storm Twitter after TV return sees sleuth go back in time to Victorian London – or did he?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ty-s-fate.html LOL. Yes, it felt very like 'Inception' for me too. |

Wanted to enjoy it, but didn't really. The people I was watching it with seemed pretty actively annoyed by the 90th minute.
No real payoff to the cliffhanger of 2 years ago at all. Sherlock deduced that Moriarty was really dead after all... due to having a 5 minute drug binge. Moffat has become very "style over substance" of recent years. |

I don't like it purely on principle. You mention equality, but this is not equality - that quote from Danny Cohen shows distinct anti-male bias, And people think that is acceptable!
Men have all the advantages in the world, I think saying its anti-men is a bit strong and over-dramatic, there's going to be plenty of men on the show, and the problem is that there's to many and the only way (right now) to rectify it is by doing positive discrimination or measures to make sure that there is a balance and that women get represented... as they should, as everyone deserves to be represented. I say that as a white young straight male, my demographic the box they would put me in is highly catered too, and frankly its unfair to those demographics that are not so well catered to... so I'm all for positive discrimination to curb the excesses of male representation. |
