Flash Player for Samsung tablet
countyboy
08-01-2014
I've just acquired a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10inch tablet. I've tried to download Flash Player, but have been getting a message that it won't run on it.
But a friend told me that might be a way to get it to work.
Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

What do you want flash for?

And what version of android are you running.

I too would like flash to be able to run on my Galaxy Tab 2. My reason is to watch football streams on occasion. I have XBMC but it isn't the most reliable of apps and doesn't always allow me to connect to streams that I know are there and working. I don't know a great deal about Android but mine is running 4.2.2 according to the Galaxy Tab and it's the latest available.

If you're running kitkat then you're out of luck. The latest android that flash ran on was jellybean.

You'll have to use a browser that has flash built in, Puffin and Flashfox are two that i've heard about, i've never tried them so i don't know how good/reliable they are.

there is a way of doing it on kitkat see
http://www.androidpit.com/how-to-ins...oid-4-4-kitkat
may not work on all of machines of course.

Some tablets would not install flash on Jellybean if flash is on internal memory. Yet bizarrely if you copy it to Google drive, it would install. worth a try?

puffin works but has restrictions in free version about hours when you can use it. pretty awful interface though.

It would seem I'm jellybean then as I'm on 4.2.2 I'll give that link a go when I get home

Thanks to SPURSGALEA on different thread for this tip.

Use Flashfox (Kit Kat compatible (allegedly))

This is a browser with built in flash. works a treat on my MOTO G.

Search SPURSGALEA positing for more information.

Has the browser actually got built in flash or are you 'streaming' the flash content remote desktop style?

I use Puffin on an Ipad mini and the flash content is streamed via the cloud therefore if I'm playing a flash game I am continually using the data connection so not ideal. If I had native flash once the content had been downloaded there would be no more data costs.

I couldn't honestly say, but I think flash is included - I notice the browser takes up 100 MB! It seems a bit slow in loading videos but once loaded, it plays very well suggesting it is not a cloud based system?

Oddly enough, I had an issue last night when I accessed CBS in USA using flashfox. I use smartdns from Overplay to bypass US geolocking, but when I tried to play a video, it failed to work.

I then reloaded Flash back onto my Moto G, and then I was able to access the CBS videos using the original android browser (which you now have to download), or (really strangely) Flashfox.

So Flashfox does not seem fully compatible when using smartdns geo-location type systems.

Intestingly, I has a similar issue with STV (set up with Scottish postcode etc) that it would not load UK videos (even with flash) when using smartdns. Once I set my system back to standard DNS e.g. google 8.8.8.8 it worked ok.

ITVPlayer worked though with or without smartDNS though.

So it is hard to get a one solution catches all.
