Pete Doherty sounds completely tone deaf! Love his music though.

Florence & the Machine
I've heard them live and Florence was fine, completely in tune.

Sorry, I quite like her, but when ever she sung "You got the Love", I cringed on her high note

Ian Dury and Lou Reed couldn't sing but, it didn't stop them making great records, in a half talking style. Perhaps prototype rapping?

Rhythm Stick, Walk On The Wild Side, What A Waste, Perfect Day, Reasons To Be Cheerful, Last Great American Whale.

"Florence" is in tune, but seems to only bellow in one key

I've just realised that we've got this far and nobody's mentioned Ian Brown. It would take more than autotune to sort out his monotone honking

When I saw Oasis it was their bass player that was out of tune, not their singer(s).

Neil Tennant. He really cannot sing, but I quite like some of their music.

I don't know if out of tune is the right way to describe him but Ian Curtis kinda spoke over songs rather than sang. I don't care though as I love Joy Division. In fact I like quite a few of the songs/bands listed in this thread tbh even if vocal-wise they were not perfect.

I always thought Morrisey's vocals ruined Smiths tracks.
I loved Johnny Marr's jangly guitar intros..then miseryguts started droning on.

Yeah,I know they were his songs and he's a songwriting genius, but still...

I was just listening to "Zoom" by Fat Larry's Band and became aware that the singer is a bit wayward with his pitch when singing this song, yet it still reached number 1.

Another song where pitching is a slightly off is "The Only Way is Up" by Yazz and this also went to number 1.

Do you have any other favourite songs where the singer is not quite in tune and do you prefer this to the auto-tuned, over produced vocals on tracks today?
LOADS of songs have out of tune singers. I think when there was a big dance scene in the late 80's & 90's singers could almost get away with it as the dance music almost drowned out the vocals.

Recent examples: entire Katy Perry back catalogue!

Geri Halliwell: Look at me, & its Raining Men.

I esp love in Its Raining Men she's supposed to sing this big line, but the production staff put loud crashing music over the top out to drown out her vocals!
She really is godawful, Katy Perry is a vocal genius next to her.

That old song with the chorus "come up and see me, make me smiiiiiile". The man singing the verses is horrific. I still like the song though.

The man singing that Pogue's Christmas song is awful.
