I am with talktalk and this morning as my daughter was phoning me a terrible screeching started up through the phone. Now it is there every time I try to place or receive a call.
I have tried BT as I thought they provided the line rental but I was told to get in contact with talktalk.
Does anyone know why this is happening and can you give me a phone number to report this fault.
I would really appreciate help with this. I have tried talktalks website but its useless in this case.
Thanks.

Could be your daughter has something wrong her end and she is still connected to your phone.

If you call your landline from a mobile, is it engaged?

Is it possible that you have a faulty micro filter or have accidentally removed it. If you are not aware, the micro filter is used to take broadband signals off the phone line.

First thing should be to unplug everything, and plug the phone direct into the wall, no extentions or filters, if the problem goes away, the problem is one of the things unplugged.

Good advice - was just about to suggest that.

Also, ask daughter to try the same - sounds a if a fax line may have become crossed.
