The Spirit of man go upwards for his breathe is from God, the spirit of Beasts go down because they are made from the earth and there return. Animals don't have a soul.”

I'm shocked people still believe in that

Of course it doesn't. I don't think there were many highly paid pugilists way back when this tribal nonsense was written. I am curious though about the lack of a hell of a lot of one eyed people in the civilised world, stoning to death and crucifixion, just for starters. Somehow , though many have hung on to homosexuality being wrong according to their choice of what suits them in the Bible

I don't believe in the soul but I think animals can be "persons" in the philosophical sense of the word.
also, who said that? I haven't watched it yet.

This country shouldn't talk about civilised when it's still gunning down its citizens in broad daylight and hiding behind the judicial system doing it. The Magna Carta may I remind you has it's origins in Mosaic Law and we owe a debt to those tribes people you speak so low of

It's not arrogance, it's boasting in the LORD who is my strength ...

I thought a soul was a religious connotation. I am not religious and am sure animals aren't either.

If humans have souls then so do animals. We are animals and no different to them. We have evolved and advanced possibly quicker but the animals will catch up one day.

Oh what a swerve !!! I was questioning adherence to Biblical script? That smorgasbord of, what are my opinions as a religious human being and how can I choose something to preach about to fit my own agenda?

Whats wrong with supporting animal rights. Animals never let you down. Humans do.

Liz might appear nutty to some but she loves her animals so why condemn her for that.

They will indeed. Some say some humans behave like animals already.

The animals are more in tune with God and their purpose and function in the scheme of things than man, that is the sad state of affairs we are in.

Until that great day, the inanimate and irrational creation, with the elect children of God, groans and travails in pain, waiting for the change Rom 8:19-23;

It is, but it is not restricted to christian or traditional religion. Pagans believe that all living things have souls. Some non-religious people also believe in a soul - but not in the same way. It can sometimes be interchanged with spirit, and to some it is basically the part of a person (or animal) that defines its personality.

I went to convent school and the nuns were very frightening in their description of souls, and in particular the permanent damage done to them by sins. For years I thought of a soul as a sort of diseased liver with fatty deposits and stains. My parents were very naughty catholics and I bore the brunt of their misdemeanors at school!

Now I am not religious at all.

The day my niece was christened - about 32 years ago, there was a 'Blessing the Animals' service in the church. We had to wait outside until it had finished, there were cats, dogs, even cows and horses, I think the priest was just expecting a few hamsters. I remember my Mum being really annoyed because she had new shoes and the church was full of crap. I thought it was hilarious.

Considering we evolved from animals, how do we have souls and they don't?
