I like the way (A) perhaps alone out of all races in the universe, the Sensorites couldn't tell each other apart, and (2) it had never before occurred to them that they could impersonate each other.

I know! Marvellously daft isn't it? But for all the contrivances of the script there's something rather sweetly charming about The Sensorites. It's resolutely old fashioned, even for 1964 it seems old fashioned. But the story is, mostly, solid, if a little overlong. And has there ever been a alien race in Doctor Who that makes the viewer go "Awwww, bless..." as much as the Sensorites? I think it's the feet that clinch it!

I don't have the two-and-a-half hours required to rewatch this, but my memory of it is that (A) the Sensorites could tell each other apart, but their general resemblance was such that an individual unacquainted with, say, the Third Elder, would identify him by his insignia, rather than his features; and (2) it had never before occurred to the City Administrator (not the brightest button in the box) that this could be exploited.

I feel the broad way in which Peter Glaze plays the villain is something of a let-down (perhaps he is over-compensating for the mask), but the script is a thoughtful one, and ultimately rewarding.
