Picture size problem on 2000T

Am having an odd problem with a few channels on my new 2000T.

I was checking after installation and some channels showing older programmes like C5, Challenge and True Entertainment are not upscaling and are showing in 4:3 ratio.

Is this a settings issue, as I used the recommended setup procedure?.

Programmes made in 4:3 are designed to be watched in 4:3 and you cannot change it if you use HDMI. For the same reason you cannot get rid of the black bar top and bottom on widescreen films.

If you insist on watching distorted pictures so your 16:9 screen is "filled" by the 4:3 image, you may be able to achieve this using a setting on your TV and using SCART.

Thanks for the reply....

My Sony TV up scales automatically any 4:3 ratio progs with no appreciable distortion, and my previous PVR did too. I just found it an oddity, as I rarely if ever watch such shows.

Previous Humax PVRs had the "wide" button but it appears to have been ditched as a feature on recent boxes. The YouView boxes are the same.
