EE to close 76 duplicate stores and open 50 new stores
There are a lot of duplicate EE stores as many will have noticed. Looks like EE are going to deal with this issue and are going along the franchise route like O2. Quote:
EE is to close another 76 stores as it continues to consolidate Orange and T-Mobile stores sharing the same high street location. http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/News/27....PAk26suq.dpuf
It will also open 50 new stores, creating 350 new jobs, and expand its franchise programme from 25 to 100 stores this year. The move sees EE’s total retail estate fall from 600 to 574 stores and marks a seismic shift in EE’s retail strategy, which sees the operator intensify its drive into the franchised retail sector. Of the 50 new stores EE plans to open this year 30 will be run by franchise partners. Another 45 directly managed stores will be transferred to franchise partners bringing the total number of EE franchised stores to 100 by the end of this year. Staff have been told that there will be no compulsory redundancies, with all store staff at the 76 shops set to be closed transferred to adjacent stores. EE has also pledged the creation of 350 new jobs with the opening of 50 new stores. |

i always thought it was silly with the dupe stores, In Sheffield they have an EE shop then a phones 4 u then another EE shop then a carphone warehouse then a o2 shop all next to each other then across a Three and virgin shop talk about keeping competition close lol.
But yea on the subject thought it was daft having 2 EE shops literally a shop apart form each other especially where i live in barnsley they merged the tmobile and orange shop to an EE shop in the old tmobile shop very quickly and closed the orange one totally, would of thought they'd of done it in a city a lot quicker than a town Ash |
