I think he's okay judging by what we've seen. Obviously there may be more to him as he's had a few votes but that may be down to Linda and her coven ?

I'm sure he has a few good one liners in him and would like to see more of him.

What does anyone think?

I like Jim and think he has come across best along with perhaps Ollie and Lionel.

Some people are just hoping and praying he says something really offensive so they can hammer him.

I thought the entire forum was one big Jim appreciation thread.

I think Jim seems okay but I don't know enough about him to give an opinion.

Well it's awkward at the minute isn't it, while he stays on best behaviour, and is being quite funny in his dated way, and has his 'nemesis' there to make him look good.

Well, I suppose you can only judge on what you see.
The love triangle has taken up too much broadcasting time in my opinion. I want to see what others are like...

I wouldn't say a fan but he hasn't done anything to offend or upset me since he entered the house. I know his history but I judge on whats happening now.

That's how I look at it.
I start out giving them all a clean sheet when they go in and take it from there.
He doesn't appear to have done anything wrong but there's time i suppose

I've changed my mind on a few already....

I hope his support doesn't disappear when he finally reacts to Linda's relentless baiting.
She seems to have most of the house on her side now and has attacked him this morning for making a tea towel wet after he did all the washing up from last night. He was clearly riled by her.

He appears to be the sanest person in there at the moment.

I do too or in the words of Michelle Pfeiffer they all start with an A - their job is to keep it.

This was a tough ask for me in the case of Jim because I had direct exposure (sorry poor choice of word) for a significant time some years ago. But he got an A to go in and at present and to my surprise he is currently still a B+/A-.

I too have changed my mind about several of them. Daffy is the real surprise he plummeted to a D/E early on but is pulling it back quite nicely at present.

Why are you joining the overwhelming forum majority group with the pretence that it is a minority? You cannot possibly have missed the utter demonisation of Linda on here, or the endless references to Jim being 'a gentleman' etc.

Exactly. And it is incredibly irritating (though it may be a mistake in this case) when a large majority tries to use the language of the underdog. *coughAaron*

You make a good point ( as ever) WD.

In my case my viewing of the show and the forum are slightly different things. As far as the show is concerned they start with an A and gain or loose grades on their own merits.

However the forum does influence my feelings towards HM's in a way that has nothing to do with the HM's behaviours. This happens every year when the forum seems to demonise one HM on masse while another is unreasonably feted for no good reason that I can see, or indeed is ever explained by forum posters.

This year it appears to be Linda who is unreasonably demonised and Luisa who is unreasonably feted. The impact on me is to back Linda a little more than her own behaviour merits and dislike Luisa rather more than her behaviour merits.

It seems I am just obtuse. The A - U classification stands though as far as I can separate my take on the show from the influence of the forum.

I will agree about the "demonization" of Linda but IMO she is not coming across too well. However, I really disagree that Jim is the most popular on here - well, I have seen little sign of it. Luisa seems to be taking that role with Jasmine a close runner up.

I think the majority opinion on here is not "Gentleman Jim" at all. Instead it's the view most repeated above, in this thread.

Yes, I am just the same. It is almost impossible for me to see an underdog and not want to adopt it. It makes me a terrible viewer of football matches, because, not having an actual team that I support, I ALWAYS support the losing one.

I'm the same. I judge on what I see in the house and so far I think he's ok. He's not done anything to warrant me disliking him.

That may change of course, but as we hardly get to see what the others are up to it's hard to judge any of them.

Most of the airtime is being taken up by that twit Lee and his shenanigans.

Good grief.... bet they don't show it either.

Why is it depressing? Folk are allowed to like Jim aren't they?

Where? Try not to be depressed. I can only see people consciously refraining from pre-judging him, possibly against their media-savvy intuition.

I think there are a lot of people on here who dislike Linda quite strongly. That's not the same as being a Jim fan. Equally there are plenty who defend Linda, for whatever reason. Perhaps they're not Jim detractors by definition either.

Nothing wrong with that in my book WD. ( quite British in fact!) I just hope you are not a betting woman.

I don't get how you can just judge someone for a few days in the house and forget the past 20 years, it's like if he goes a whole week without calling Ollie something derogartory the forum will say how fantastic he's done

for me he starts with an E- and he can work up from there, so far he hasn't really done anything kind enough to get past the E-
