I couldn't agree more; it's as solid as a rock. And with TAPs such as MyStuff, it does everything one could wish for...

Most People only post on forums like this when theres got a problem, isnt it about time the BBC changed the MHEG text service, or for something simalar to happen to send everyones tioppy into a re-set/re-boot turn off cycle.

The Beeb have a Toppy or two in their shed now, don't they, Richard? No excuses any more.

But we can just turn MHEG off with the latest firmware so they'll have to come up with some even more fiendishly evil way of breaking the Toppy!

I've just purchased a Panasonic DVD/HDD recorder to transfer some of the programmes from my toppy to DVD. The Panasonic has basic but effective editing software and it saves me ages grabbing the video to PC and editing it in Adobe Premiere.

I can't find any way of telling the toppy to continually play a series of files in a folder for a transfer. Is there any way to get the toppy to do this? I've got it all connected up no probs, just cant find a way to do it!

I'm probably just reading the manual wrong, but would appreciate a pointer!

Essentially, open the archive, highlight a file, press Red; highlight the next one, press Red, and so on, then press Play.

It can be done, and it involves highlightting the files you want to play and pressing the red button.


if you use a USB lead to transfer the recordings you only need a few programmes, i use
Altair ( to transfer the recording)
Project X ( to convert the transport stream file - .rec to m2p)
Nero vision express to edit out any adds, and burn to DVD/VCD
while all that is going on it doesnt matter what the toppy is upto as it wont put any on screen displays on the programme being copied to DVD.

I Use the USB to do all the TAP stuff, so no probs there. The Project X software, is this public domain? If so where can I get it. M2P files, is that just an MPG variation?

I've got the DVD editing software to edit out the ad's etc no probs...

As they have the complied version with java included.

M2P is just Mpeg2 program stream.

So yes just a mpeg variant.

Best place for Toppy stuff is the www.toppy.org.uk site/forum. The user contributed guides / forum are great for info on .rec converstion.
