Do you think Jenna Coleman will leave at the end of this series?

Now that series 8 speculation is now in full flow, I thought I would ask who thinks/wants Jenna Coleman to go after this series.

Personally I think Clara has been the best companion in years and I would like her to stay for at least another series after series 8 so she becomes the longest serving New Who companion, but i fear she probably won't. Having said that, we don't know what the chemistry between Clara and 12 will be like- it could be Horrendous!

Also when she does leave I would like to see leave happily and of her own accord, like many of the classic companions, and definitely not with another "sort of dead but not really" cliches that happened with Amy, Donna and Rose.

She should have died when she entered his timeline. I'll be glad to see her gone as she is the blandest companion ever, they should have kept her as Oswin Oswald as she was promising

regardless of what I think of clara and when she might leave, I think the whole subject of this question is part of a bigger thing, namely, people thinking everything should change at once. I mean now the doctor is new everyone's asking when clara will leave for someone new, I've seen threads on potential for renewed gadgets, and everyone seems's to automatically assume that if the master is to return then john simm would only come back for a regeneration scene to make way for someone new, when this in no way needs to be the case.I think that just because one thing changes not everything has to change. A familiar companion can bridge the show for people when in his first seconds on screen, every doctor is an unloved stranger to the audience

Just on that point, this is because John Simm has publically said he would come back to play the Master, but only to film a regeneration. So people are only saying that because that is what the actor has said will happen.

As for Clara, I think she might go at the end of series 8. Unlike with Rose, I think Clara's dynamic with the Doctor might change to the point that she decides to leave of her own accord. Rose got lucky as she ended up with young, handsome David Tennant as her regenerated Doc.

Clara has already admitted (thanks to the truth field) that she ran off with the Doctor because she secretly fancied him. I think his shift into an older man might put and end to that crush and she'll choose to move on.

The only thing I hope for is that they do a "companion crossover," so that whomever the new companion is, they join the Doctor and Clara for a couple of episodes before Clara leaves. They often did that in the classic show and it helped make the transitions feel smooth and natural.

Oh and one other thing - I'd like the companions to go back to actually travelling with the Doctor on a permanent basis. No more of this "dropping them off home at the end of the episode," nonsense. It makes the series feel too "choppy."

Wouldn't surprise me if we did have a dramatic finale when she leaves. Hopefully on her own terms and saying a fond farewell to the Dr. Thanking him for what he has done for her .

I think the context of that is misunderstood. i'd heard the quote but it sound to me like he said something along the lines of "i'd come back for a regeneration scene if they ask" because he, like, most other people assumed that was all they would ask him to come back for, rather than him not wanting to be the master anymore, especially when you take into account the story that moffat said about him acting all cool saying, 'they'll probably want a new guy' but then coming up to him privately and saying 'they dont all have to change at once'. Im under the impression that if they asked him to do multiple more ep's he would be eager if his schedule allowed, but thinks that his time has passed and they wont want him, apart from just to change. remember, over 2 years passed between last of the time lord's and the end of time, and yet he still happily came when the call did

I hope Jenna stays longer, it seemed a shaky start at the beginning but Clara has a long way to go, lots of adventures, timey wimey stuff and baking, lots of baking cakes, meeting more of The Doctor's friends and enemies, Clara and The Doctor are a duo, they go together like fish n chips.

definitely warming to her from her performances in day of the doctor and time of the doctor.she was kind of bland in a lot of series 7 but these last two episodes have really shown more emotion and personality in her character

Let's hope she stays for ages, more of a classic companion as opposed to the dish functional family he had with Amy and Rory...

http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/doctor-w...-on-the-master ->

John Simm has revealed he would “take the Master to a very, very dark place” if he reprised the Doctor Who role…

Update: on his Twitter feed, Simm has clarified that "The Master thing is honestly a non story. I was answering a specific question at a Q+A. [It's] been taken out of context"

Speaking at last week’s Cheltenham Literature Festival, actor John Simm told fans that he’d like the chance to provide “…another take” on the Master, the Doctor’s arch-enemy, making him “…a bit quieter.”

totally agree. i said earlier in this thread his word's were probably out of context, as he always seems eager. he probably only mentions a regeneration as he thinks that's all they will want him for. I personally would like to see him continue for a while

That sort of shallow look at her character though doesn't at all fit with what we've seen on screen. She was just as kind and caring towards Hurt's Doctor and she didn't bat an eyelash at the older Eleven's she met in TotD. As someone who has met every single Doctor she understands better than most that he's the same man deep down. Clara was intrigued by him originally because he was exciting and she fancied him but she's gone way beyond that.

"I'm an English teacher from planet Earth, and I've run off with a man from space because I really fancy "

See what I mean. This sentence could have finished with" him" or just as easily with "running away from it all" or "meeting aliens" or "showing him up once in a while" or "making a difference" or "making my mom and dad proud" .......

I love Jenna, I don't fancy her, I want to be her friend, she seems fun, funny, childish, serious, strong willed and much more.

But why would she clamp her hand over her mouth to stop herself saying any of those things It was pretty obvious what she was going to say, IMO.

I think it was more for the humour. It appears to be a running joke now that the female companions all swoon over the Doctor. It certainly wouldn't affect anything if you got rid of it.

I'm happy to be the only person in the planet that thinks this and to be proven wrong but I just don't think it's what Moffat actually wrote in that scene. It would have been natural for to clamp her hand..... And then immediately turn to the doctor to eagerly make sure he didnt notice or hear, or to turn away completely and look embarrassed and be thinking of a million places she would rather be than their right then. Instead, the Doctor explains the truth field, the all say their goodbyes and then carry on as normal. It just seemed (to me) and more in her character that actually she had very personal reasons not directly related to anyone there at the time for joining the doctor and Clara doesn't just let out her personal reasons to strangers so she clamps her face as soon as she realises what she's saying.

Tenuous theory I know but I'm sticking to it

I think Clara made The Doctor laugh and he hadn't laughed in a while.

The Doctor-"Do you remember that time, when I asked you something, you changed the subject,it made me laugh as only you could do so"
Clara- "Yes, what day was it?"
The Doctor-"The day you said hello"
