People have posted previously about how how annoying it is to have to buy all the Matt Smith Christmas specials in order to get Time of the Doctor. Amazon are selling this lot for the bargain price of £10. So for the price of 1 Dr Who DVD you also get the other specials as well.

P.S did you also know that Time of the Doctor is the 800th episode ?

if I've worked it out right, the crimson horror is the 100th episode since the return. wonder how many people would have believed it would have passed that milestone and still be going strong when rusell first brought it back.

I would much rather have both The Day of the Doctor and Time of the Doctor on a boxset and not have to buy episodes I already own, even if they're fairly cheap.

I have already bought Day of The Doctor. Well actually it was a Christmas pressie. I won't be buying Time of The Doctor, because like you I already have the other episodes. Don't see the point of wasting money like that, just for one special.
So I won't be buying, unless they release it on it's own. Of course, it could be on the series eight box set. In which case I shall get it then.

Thing is though, if they release it on its own it will probably be ten quid anyway. I'm just going to give the spare disc with the other specials on to a friend who likes Dr Who but doesn't buy the DVD's.

My guess is they will be in the series 8 set. The Christmas special always has been so I don't see why this would be any different, the Widow, the Doctor & the Wardrobe and The Snowman were in the 7 set, why would this be different?

Beacuse Series 8 is the launch of a new Doctor. It might seem weird to open with the previous Doctor's final episode. (Particularly if Series 8 uses a new title sequence/theme/logo.)

My money is still on a 50th celebration boxset coming out next year sometime with day/time of the doctor other 50th stuff like fiveish doctors reboot/science of Dr who and other new features commentaries/deleted scenes etc. I am getting the time of the doctor in the meantime just for completest sake and because i have spent tenners on worse things in my life.

Maybe because it's a different Doctor? Two Doctors have never shared a box set before.

They usually have separate releases in Region 1, and code-free players are fairly easy to find.

Yes, but if you remember, series 7 had two different title sequences and themes. The one that we had from 2010, plus the current one. Both parts to that series were included on the complete Series 7 box set.

It does seem silly and pointless to re-release A Christmas Carol, The Doctor, Widow and the Wardrobe, and the Snowmen with The Time of the Doctor, as I already have those on DVD. ACC and TDWATW I have got seperatly, plus all three on the S7 box set.

What a waste of money that's gonna be! If that's the only way to get TTOTD, then I'll have to buy the Eleventh Doctor Christmas Specials box set. I don't wanna have to do it this way if I can avoid it, but it seems as though I won't have a choice.

A DVD release of Series 8 won't be until 2015, because the series won't be starting until the Autumn. Apparently S8 will run week after week until all 13 episodes have been shown. We may even get another Christmas episode, but that's not been confirmed yet, as it's still 11 months away.

I'll get them on Blu-Ray so at least it won't be completely pointless, as I currently own them all on DVD.

Yes they have. Hartnells The Gunfighters and Davisons The Awakening were packaged as a box set.

I think he means a series overlap. There are a few examples of box sets with more than one Doctor in but they are on-off stories.

I noticed that the both the DVD and Bluray of Time of the Doctor seems to have gone down in price on BBC Shop.
Before DVD was £13.99, now it's £9.99, but using the DOCTOR discount code, £7.99.
Bluray was £17.99, now £14.99, with DOCTOR code, £11.99.

Anything that ends at The Name of the Doctor just plain isn't a complete set - I'm not buying S7 and S8 until they pop the specials on the end! I'm aware I could be waiting a long time, but that's Matt Smith's last series, right there.

That would be a good way to do it as series 8 will then have a clean start! Alas I think it wont happen!

That's not gonna happen. Series 7 is already released and is unlikely to be re-released to include Matt's final two episodes. A boxset with Matt's last two episodes, various documentaries and An Adventure In Space And Time though should happen.

yes and An Adventure In Space And Time should be released on BluRay its crazy that the BBC didnt do that!

Rumours are that Series 8 will be 12 episodes.Finishing in November with Xmas as the 13th story filmed in the production block.
