There are a lot of people on budget though, or that would like to test a different network for free.

Considering Wavejock has to make a 20 mile round trip to get one, it's not really 1p is it. Think of fuel and then potentially parking costs, you might as well go to the closest store and get the Three SIM

I might have a friend who lives near one of those stores who can pick one up for me whilst doing their weekly shop! Currys/PC World stores normally provide free parking, so potentially if I needed one it could be just 1p!

The main reason I would travel to get the EE 4G SIM card would be to test the 4G network but as I already have a 4G phone and 4G coverage just about everywhere locally on EE that does not apply to me!

They do some contracts with 500MB but mine is not one of those.

A lot of supposition and guesswork happening today....

called me old fashioned. but i'm perfectly willing to pay £30pcm to not dick about like this.
Yes, the £7.50 I pay for my 1GB data SIM per month is worth it for me to not have to be constantly looking for replacements. Time is money and all that!

I was joking. I know you have 2GB + or something like that.

I assume the Vodafone SIM is 3G only and not 4G?

I would think so. Still could be worthwhile if you are in a 900/2100 UMTS area. 1p for 250MB is a steal but for the sake of 50MB the EE 4G SIM looks the better buy if you have coverage and want to explore what LTE can do. Assuming you have an unlocked LTE handset, dongle or WiFi device.

Yeah, I already have 4G on EE, O2 and 3, so was just wanting to test Vodafone out for completeness. Ah well.

Still, unsurprisingly popular deal, considering how much fuss people go through to get "free" data from the likes of Ovivo.

Ovivo is pretty good as you just pay a small fee for the sim and then get free data every month, the only thing is when browsing the web 1 in every so many pages contains an ad page you click through. However for streaming and stuff it's great.

It is arguably more hassle to drive to get a batch of 1p sims and then keep swapping them every 200MB, do they just work or do they all need activating each time too?

It could be handy for those on a budget like I say, but I'm happy with my £15 unlimited data + tethering and loads of minutes and texts deal + free 4G and 'like home' roaming. Like home and Three's 4G are on HotUKDeals as 2 of the top 5 hottest deals of all and have been for a while.
