9300-t not working

Hi all, bought a 9300-t direct from Humax as a Christmas present, but can't get it to work. Done auto set up and got signal strenght as 100% but quality jumping 40-80-20-90-60%. Rang technical and was told to do a manual tune as this would solve the problem. No such luck, still diong the same, and now they are closed till Monday. Anyone got any suggestions? Would be most grateful
Thanks

Sounds as if your aerial signal is too strong. Do you have an amplifier in the aerial circuit? If so try bypassing it or switching it off. Otherwise an attenuator such this as might be a solution.

I live 20 odd miles from Crystal Palace

my readings range from

signal strength 74%
signal quality 100%

to

signal strength 78%
signal quality 100%

depending what MUX I am on

so it does look that your picking up too strong a signal so coulrophobe advice is sound.
