Since nobody has replied, here's how I do it on a Google Nexus 7, which is also Android. However, there may be alternative methods which I haven't yet discovered, and I don't know enough to say whether it will be identical on your tablet. Anyway FWIW here goes:

At the bottom of the home screen, press the icon with six small squares in a circle. This will bring up the complete set of icons for all installed programs.

Press and hold the icon for the program you wish to uninstall. After a second or two, the word "Uninstall" should appear the top of the screen. Drag the relevant icon onto the word "Uninstall" and then confirm the operation.

this only removes the icon from the homepage. the actual downloaded game icon and program remains in the downloaded apps page

It does.... It should uninstall the entire app using this method if you do it from the list of all apps and not from the homescreen.

I can confirm it works on a nexus, but Samsung modify android a fair bit, so it might work differently.

You may need to go into the settings and uninstall it from the apps menu.
