Lionel's dig at Jim
Hosai

Did anyone else find it hilarious when Lionel randomly went "Jim would have done...Jim was like that", he seems to have some insecurity around Jim.

it's quite obvious that Lionel thinks he's a higher class of washed-up hasbeen than Jim

Jim still works, I doubt Lionel does.

He's a bit snidey in the DR saying Jim talks a lot and is controlling - when that is what HE does. There's a bit of history and rivalry between those two.

Was it involving a threesome with the lovely Linda perchance?

To be fair, Jim DID have a playboy reputation and no doubt Lionel has heard a lot more than we did.

That said, there's something about Lionel I can't quite gel with...his "bossy" comment to Luisa and his expression when she challenged him, his name dropping, his comment about the audience saying they love him, his aggravation at Jim's Alpha Male status. I didn't see him on The Farm though others say he was unpleasant. What I do suspect from what Ive seen is that he may have a touch of the prima donnas with an old school sense of entitlement.

Yes he still works. Performing in December. When he was in a documentary called "the Young Ones" recently - ironically tackling the subject of ageism, he was the most active and never sat down. He got together with a group of young dancers, teaching one anothe some new dance routines and they nearly fell over when he revealed his age.

What did piss him off, was when a young girl, asked him in a slow and patronising way, "would you like a cup of tea dear" he said he felt he was talked to as if he was in a retirement home and said, ‘Either these girls go, or I go!’

So little did Luisa realise - she couldn't have said anything worse!

Jim has a way more impressive CV, Lionel was just a warm up act in his prime.

I think Lionel was doing a very good job of portraying himself as a lovely, harmless gentleman.
Not anymore, the real Lionel is slowly but surely being revealed.

This cliche rearing it's head again?

Why is it that, as soon as somebody demonstrates a less positive, it's the "real" them, their "true colours". We all have various sides to us, one doesn't cancel out the other.

This is just plain wrong. Lionel had performance credits before Jim was even born. He helped Jim to get into the top tier of show business and was still on going after Jim had effectively fallen from grace into relative obscurity. (some 20 years before Yewtree)

I have tried to like Lionel however I just can't, I find him one huge bore/show off. The only thing missing with Lionel is a Fence & some head curlers

Getting a few extra performance credits means nothing, Jim has hosted a number of prime time television shows and at his peak was a much bigger draw than Lionel Blair has ever been.

Lionel may have had a longer career but Jim's career has been a lot more successful and to pretend otherwise is just silly.

I saw him years ago on another Reality prog & he showed himself to be a thoroughly unlikeable man.

Yes we all have different sides but the side of Lionel I saw was a very unpleasant one & not one I'd care to have.

Well said, Lionel didn't draw in audiences like Jim did.

Lionel's a bit like Biggins, they just turn up on shows.
