HP sauce v Daddy's sauce
gomezz
11-01-2014
Had a roadside bacon bap today and as is my want put on some brown sauce. Yuk! It was Daddy's sauce which I now know is too sweet and not spicy enough compared to the much superior and tasty HP sauce.

Does anyone actually prefer Daddy's sauce?

No. Inferior in every way.

I used to but I've not had any in years, dunno if it's still the same. Wouldn't be hard for it to beat HP anyway, that's rank since they changed it.

Changed it? I've not noticed...

HP is still the best, although it's not as good as it used to be. It's gotten runnier recently too.

Both made by Heinz both made in the Netherlands now and not the UK

Hammonds chop sauce is the best, Hp is too vinergary for me.

Less salt or some other such trendy nonsense.

Try Gold Star Chip shop sauce, lovely. May not be available outside Scotland. Sainsburys stock it here

Absolutely. We used to always buy HP Fruity, until one week it was unavailable so we got Branston brown sauce instead. Have been buying Branston ever since.

We tried Daddy's once but it was too runny and tasted heavily of vinegar.

+1 on that.

HP is not the same since production moved to Holland, lets be honest how can we expect a nation that smothers chips in mayonnaise, to make a good brown sauce

Much prefer HP, never had a brown sauce that tasted better.

For me it's HP or nothing at all.

What they said. Although we are both from Sheffield so we both have Hendersons on everything lol. Wish they did a thick Hendersons.

Daddies all the way. I only have it with a bacon sandwich and HP is too fruity for that.

Always had HP. Love it with a crusty ham roll or on scrambled eggs.

I'll have to try HP Fruity (if you can still get it) one day. I haven't had it for years.

HP sauce or no sauce at all.

Made the mistake in the USA of trying A1 Steak Sauce. "Water" doesn't come close.

Daddies is the best!

Daddies > Branston > HP

All brown sauce is yummo though!

Hammonds of Yorkshire.

They must be devestated that Chop Sauce is now produced in Lancashire

I like Daddies Sauce, but I love HP!

It's my favourite sauce, made in Holland or not - that said, I've never tried Hammond's, so will look out for it.
