Hey DS members. I just thought I would give you an insight into what I think of the housemates so far. Feel free to agree with or challenge my opinions. I am loving this series so much there seems to be a lot of character build up as well as fireworks! Here are my opinions of the housemates.
Dappy- When he walked in (looking like he had shit himself) I couldn't stand him. From what I had seen of him in the media I found him to be an irritating little rodent. Once I began to observe his behaviour after a few days he started to grow on me. Though he looks ridiculous with his trousers down to his knees, he has made me snigger several times. From his teeth chattering to "entice" Jasmine, to getting off with a duck and last night's hilarious dancing in a nappy still trying to proclaim to us viewers that he's G, he has got up in my estimations. Unfortunately after tonight episode he has catapulted down my ladder. My previous insights to him being a chauvinistic, immature little toerag had been prophesied.
Sam- I am a little puzzled by Sam. From discovering she used to date Joey Essex (I cant' tell the time) I expected her to be a dimwitted Amy Childsesque bimbo. In contrast to this narrow view, she actually seems to be quite intelligent, if a little reserved. She is playing a very good game. I expected her to involve herself in the little Luisa, Jasmine, Lee clique but she has separated herself to be with the oldies, very good game in my book. She has learnt that us viewers do not favor to bitchy female groups (Shilpagate) so keeping her head down for the time being is improving her chances. However, I would like to see more of her rather then becoming a speck of dust in the background.
Lee- Where do I start with this immature, self righteous little mummys boy? On initial viewing I didn't really have much of an opinion on Lee Ryan. Expected him to be a bit of a loud-mouth and a ladies man, nothing to the extent of what he is. He does sexual things with two girls in the space of 3 nights and blames Casey for getting upset? PIG! From just finishing university, I have come across a lot of men who are like this. They find it completely acceptable to treat woman like dirt but then are appalled when they get caught up on it. However, Lee is in his 30s. Lee has a child. Lee has no excuse to act like someone 10 years his senior. He is a non entity and a horrible excuse for a man.
Casey- When she first came in I expected her to be a bit of a bimbo to be honest. Bit of a narrow view I know, but I am a bit judgmental when it comes to glamour models who come in this house (Lacey Banghard) Nevertheless, Casey seemed like a sweet and pleasant girl. I found her friendship with Lee pretty sweet and thought they would make a nice couple. After the way he humiliated her and pushed her aside for Jasmine, I had a lot of pity for her. As a girl I know what it is like to be treated like that, it ruins your self esteem as well as making you feel like a fool. Not only was Casey humiliated but she began to be the one of the wrong in accordance to Lee. So, being upset about the guy who told you a load of bolony about liking you, kisses you and then turns around and gives you the finger and saunters off with another girl. Apparently that's Casey being unreasonable. I don't like how she forgave him so easily and is now being pally. She needs to stay away from Lee, hes dangerous.
Linda- I find Linda to be feisty and honest woman. Though she isn't the loudest or in your face housemate, I can imagine she has a strong bite. Her relationship with Jim is very interesting. Personally, I believe it to be a personality clash. Jim is chauvinistic and rude whereas Linda appears to have feminist traits and sticks up for what she believes in. This in it self is an instant car crash. I admired that she stuck up for Luisa instead of taking the easy route of staying out of things. I find Linda to be a dark-horse and I hope we see more of her. Unlike Colleen, I find her to be more genuine. Lets face it, Colleen was a bit of a suck up.
Jasmine- Well when I thought saw her I had a feeling she would be car crash television, I wasn't wrong. On the first night I found her drunk state quite amusing. Although some of what she said was disrespectful, I would be lying if I didn't fess up that I have said shit to people when drunk. She seems quite a damaged character and there is something behind all her outrageous behavior. I am not to keen on her and Luisa's bitchy comments against other house-mates. I also personally do not understand what she sees in Lee. I think we have more to see from Jasmine and I admire that she says how she feels instead of coming across as fake and over-bearing like a lot of American female contestants (Courtney) I predict more friction between her and Jim.
Liz- Now Liz is an odd one. We haven't seen that much of her, she tends to float in the background quite a lot so it's easy to forget she is in the house. Although she comes across as a little whacky, she seems harmless for a journalist. I feel sorry for her when the other housemates make mean comments about her. She is a misunderstood soul, people need to give her a chance and get to know her a bit more instead of writing her off as the house loony. I was pleased she stood up for herself against Luisa regarding the shopping list. If given more to do I think we will see her character develop more, hopefully allowing her to bond more with housemates and not become ostracized.
Lionel- I had no idea who Lionel was when he entered the house. He is definitely not my generation so I had no perception or idea how he would be. I find him to be quite a pleasant guy. I am a put off by his constant name dropping. Lionel, you know a lot of famous people. We get it. I respect how difficult it must be for him to feel at ease in such a hysterical and dynamic house, he seems to fit in well. I like his friendship with Ollie as it seems genuine on both sides. His views are a little distorted but that I believe is due to his age so his ideals are going to be a bit out of touch. I think he has a strong chance of making it until the end as he seems real as well as a kind-spirited man.
Jim- I have a soft spot for Jim. I know he is controversial and a bit of a pig but at least with him we get what is on the tin. He may be holding self back a little, but I don't think he is fake in the slightest. He clashes with Linda but that was to be expected. I think we will see more of Jim as the time goes on and I think he will become more controversial and chauvinistic as time goes on. He seems entertaining so I don't want him to go yet. Whether he changes the public perception of him, I don't know. We need a strong male character in there at times to control the younger louts from going crazy. Jim seems to rub people up the wrong way but with such big characters I don't think he feels he has the self-entitlement that he expected to have. People wont take his shit, period.
Ollie- Ollie has been pretty quite so it is hard to review him in detail. His emotional outbursts are quite amusing, whether they are genuine I don't have a clue. I haven't seen Made In Chelsea so I didn't know what to expect of him. I think there is more to him then being a bisexual posh toff. Once a few people go I think he will come out of his shell a lot more so we can see who the real Ollie is. I may be a cynic but I don't really find his sudden love for Sam that genuine. Maybe a lot of the reality has been edited out. At the time being, it just feels like a one sided showmance. Come on Ollie, show us the real you not your MIC character.
Luisa- Well, where do I start on this girl. I am going to be blunt. I didn't like her on `The Apprentice` and I don't like her on here. Yes she is honest and upfront which is great television, but I find her to be a bitchy, stuck up bimbo. Her voice does my head in and is a complete contrast of her supposed intelligence. I don't really care about her sex orgies or what not, it doesn't really explain to us her personality at all. If you are in her clique then great. If you are excluded from it I can imagine her to be very overbearing and condescending. I don't like how she over-rules the weaker characters just because she sees herself as this feisty business woman. She doesn't come across as a very nice person. She seems the sort to stab you in the back as long as she gains something.
Dappy- When he walked in (looking like he had shit himself) I couldn't stand him. From what I had seen of him in the media I found him to be an irritating little rodent.
