All the custards served at school are basically just milk thickened with cornflour.

Normal Custard - Custard Powder (cornflour, flavouring & colour) + milk and sugar.

Pink Custard - Strawberry blancmange powder (cornflour, flavouring & colour) + milk and sugar.

White Custard - Cornflour + milk and sugar

Chocolate Custard - Cornflour & cocoa + milk and sugar

Mint Custard - Cornflour, peppermint extract & green food colouring + milk and sugar.
Yes exactly - simple but delicious at the time.
We always had established combinations though. We only ever had pink custard with iced sponge, and we only ever had sweet white sauce with chocolate pudding.

I remember they once served jam-and-coconut sponge with pink custard instead of yellow, and it didn't go down well. It was widely discussed and condemned in the playground!

I wouldn't have minded having pink custard on such a pudding!
