Given the vast dislike the new dalek design garnered , and their absence from recent stories, are we to assume they'll just be written off as a bad decision and never mentioned again?

Asylum of the daleks used them, so I'm guessing there just more powerful versions

They got relegated to "commanders"! Due to the negative backlash against them, they were intended to replace the copper style dalek.

I think the current heirachy is something like this...

The Emperor (not the one from BW/TPOTW but the one featured in the City Of The Daleks game) has now been replaced by a Prime Minister who heads the parliament seen in Asylum...

There have been multiple White Supreme Daleks, one of which appears to be the Prime Minister's second and others who have been seen heading various other operations, and no doubt the next Dalek story will feature at least one of these.

The Bronze Dalek design from the RTD era has become the standard Drone design although for a while they had been replaced by the Red Dalek Drones (GAMES: COTD, The Eternity Clock).
Red Dalek Drones now act as field officers commanding units of RTD era Bronze Daleks.

Then there's the Blue Strategist and Orange Scientist Daleks, who I'd like to see in stories on which their specialist charecteristics are relevant to the plot, for instance a team of Strategists setting a trap for the Doctor or a team of Scientists performing experiments possibly connected to...

The Yellow Eternal Dalek (of which there is just the one) , who was reduced to dust in The Big Bang but then those events were re-written so he's likely still around somewhere and I think it's intended that this particular Dalek has an important role to play in the preservation of the race so we may see him again at some point.

Plus of course, Davros is probably still out there somewhere, and I wouldn't be surprised if he returned with a new faction, all in the RTD-era style, causing a civil war, possibly posing as the Emperor again.

EDIT: When Davros does eventually turn up again and learns about the New Dalek Paradigm, I suspect abducting the Yellow Eternal Dalek may end up being part of his plan

There definitely needs to be another Davros story. We should see his origins, before the accident, and then later in the series have a full-scale 2 part Daleks story.

No it just makes sense...

The last lot of Daleks that Davros created were from his own cells and left him in a bit of a state from the looks of it, then they turned on him and kept him as "their pet" as the Doctor put it.

That's in keeping with the Daleks' relationship with Davros in Genesis/Destiny/Ressuresction, he created them, they turned on him and kept him around when he was useful...

...but he then later created new Daleks loyal to him (Revelation) who became the new "Imperial Daleks" with Davros eventually revealed to be acting as their Emperor (Remembrance), relegating the original Daleks to the status of "Renegades"...

...So I think that idea of Davros trying to take control of the Dalek Empire might come into play again if he comes back, that's his "thing", and it makes him a greater threat then when he is subdued by his own creations...

...and if the Eternal Dalek has a role to play in the preservation of the race, maybe as the holder of the oldest strain of Dalek DNA or something, it may present a way for Davros to create a new batch without further ravaging his own body...

...plus the abduction of the Eternal would act as a trigger point for the Daleks' discovering that Davros was still around, with the Doctor's involvement maybe beginning with investigating what turns out to be the Daleks' reaction to these events and trying to find out himself what happened to the Eternal.

Ooooooh ..... How about a Doctor-lite story featuring just Daleks as a lead in?

they were hated by most, and this message seems to have gotten through to the production team pretty quickly, as they've barely been seen since. I think since they have the prop's lying around they'll alway's use them in big group dalek shot's but if the doctor is talking to one or a handful of daleks they'll alway's use the more popular RTD design one's (bet moffat is thanking his lucky star's they didn't get rid of them when they were so confident about the new design)

Well, as Mark Gattis himself has expressed dissatisfaction with the end results I can't see them featuring heavily again. (Sorry, technological idiot so can't do links, but he definitely said as much in a DWM interview. Seem to remember the 'hump' was a particular disappointment to him...just looked wrong. I agree.)

I don't think "make them a copper colour" should accrue RTD all that much credit. Though based on Gattis' go, we should compliment RTD on his willingness to leave things that work well alone.

I thought they were fine with the Bronze dalek and a bit of extra flair from the Cult of Skaro.

I'm glad the New Paradigm versions were (space) binned.

However, I would like to the sink-plunger replaced, or at least rotated with some other appendages.

They were an expensive failures so, production wise, we probably haven't seen the last of them on screen

I expect they'll pop up in the background some more, then maybe get a story along the lines of being eradicated for good, then the props consigned to Doctor Who Exhibition.

The plunger is iconic, and integral to a lot of the set design that happens around them (Cf. Dalek Saucer ship controls).

Iirc some of the Daleks had cookie cutters in Stolen Earth/Journey's End. Has there been a clawed dalek in NuWho yet?

I hope we have seen the last of then. The proportions and the hump just looked odd. What a waste of money they were. The originals were just fine. If the production team wanted to change them then I think a re spray using different colours would have been a better option. I do wish we could see more of the daleks special moves. Ie. the swivel around the mid section, the sucker face grip, the force field around them to highlight how formidable they are. They are currently running the risk of being bland ranting robots.

With your ideas you could write for Doctor Who!

Y'know, I've never underwood why Daleks don't have some sort of radar that let them instantly detect any movement around them. Maybe they do and it's just never referenced...

But I agree, more of their ruthlessness and machinery, less of the standing still and ranting.

Haha I once posted a batch of fan-fic ideas in a thread on GB, back when Tennant was still the Doctor, and one of them involved the Doctor meeting Mel and Glitz's daughter who was called Melody

It's great to see so much universal dissatisfaction with those new "super" daleks -as soon as I saw them I went: "WHAAAT??". They look stupid, oversized and bloated, and far colourful -like a toy. Were they thinking their main target audience had moved on to 4 year olds -?

But seriously, what were they thinking, and if they did spend so much redesigning them under the assumption most people would prefer the new design, um, how did they fail to see this not being the case? Why such poor judgement, and why did they make just a mock-up of one of them & put in front of a diverse bunch of Who fans to see what they thought of it? I'm sure an honest reaction would have soon meant "-hmm, maybe not, let's shelve that idea".

This whole new Who could be so much better than it is if they had new people in charge. I think they need to make a clean sweep. I bet Moffat is surrounded by "Yes" people too. I'm seriously worried what he has got planned for the next series & how he might reconfigure our very notion of who is Doctor Who into what he thinks it should be. That War Doctor/ 13 Doctor b-s from the last series, like the new daleks, was a mistake.

The only thing they really seem to do well & get right are selecting the main characters (in terms of the Doctor & choice of the companions). Well that's my view any way.

You should check out Ben Aaronvitch's novelisation of Remembrance of the Daleks - it has quite a few paragraphs from certain Daleks perspectives and is full of references to their sensors, battle computers, electronic warfare and weapons tech.

The fights between the Imperials and Renegades in the book are far more vivid than the BBC's budget at the time could accomodate.

I thought the metallic paint jobs the Scientist and Drones got in Asylum improved them massively...

Anyway, we've not seen any of the Paradigm since Asylum, though the voice coming down from the Dalek ship in Time of the Doctor sounded sort-of like a Supreme. Or maybe an Emperor?

We've always been told the Daleks are the ultimate evil and they go around conquering the galaxy but I’d really like to see what they get up to day to day. I’d love to see the Daleks invading worlds and enslaving races, you know all the bad stuff we always get told they do.

We only get to see glimpses of their evil plans or hear of the them in passing but as far as I can see every time we see the Daleks on screen they’re getting their arse kicked by a skinny guy with a sonic screw driver far too easily. For once how about an episode where the focus is on them and their plans, their hierarchy and issues. Let’s actually see them winning for once without the Doctor coming to save the day. It’s never been done before and I think it would work.

I disliked with a passion the way they introduced them too. Like a bad version of "Stars In Their Eyestalks", or some kind of Manga/Power Rangers job.
