The doctor's timeline

How did the doctor and clara get out of his timeline?. Really annoyed we were never given an answer to this as it seemed a really important plot point. When nothing was said in day of the doctor, I assumed that it was because it was the 50th special and sort of stand alone, but was sure they would explain it in the christmas special, then they just..didn't

If you are asking ask to the actually methodology that the Doctor use, then no, we don't have a clue. It was never explained as to how they escaped from the time stream.

It is just one of those things we just have to accept. My take is that the Doctor was able to use his Sonic (like always) and open a tear in the time stream and they just jumped out into the control room. If you remember, there was a tear (or rift if you prefer) when he entered the time stream. I am thinking he just reversed the process.

But we will probably never know for sure.

My theory is that they didn't really need to leave it as such. Clara landed in the graveyard. They were surrounded by graves in the final scenes. The time stream is the Doctor's path through life so when he entered the time stream it then became reality and he just carried her back to the Tardis.
