Russell T. Davies (produced and wrote Doctor Who under Eccleston and Tennant, created/wrote Torchwood and Queer as Folk). He is a giant of a man and was a bizarre choice to be asked. In his book, he comments on how David Tennant always introduces him as "Dancing on Ice's Russell T Davies" because he finds it so hilarious.

That's interesting. Never knew that. I knew that David Tennant used to tease Arabella Weir of her decision to join the first series. She ended up dropping out due to injury and she was very relieved about that!

As for people that were not chosen, I know that they start the Audition process really early. Some people that auditioned but didn't make the cut (or were reserve skaters) through the years were

Tracey Shaw
Susie Amy
Danny Foster
Faye Tozer
Keeley Hazell
Vicki Michelle
Marcus Brigstocke
Stavros Flatley
Gemma Collins
Noel Sullivan
Gemma Merna
Lloyd Daniels
Shane Filan
Tim Healy
Matthew Pritchard
Matthew Hoggard
Loui Batley
Peter Shilton
David Spinx
Tina Barrett
Deanne Berry
Michelle Mone
Hannah Waterman
Matthew Cutler
Jilly Goolden
Brian Moore
Calum Best
Jonathan Wilkes
Michaela Strachan
Roxanne Pallett
Jonathan Ansell
Caprice
Dalton Grant
Angus Burden
Rav Wilding
Matthew Crompton
Raef Byajou
Javine Hylton
Brigitte Neilsen
I am not sure if all of these names were only rumours or if they were part of the original audition phase (mostly around 2009-2011_. If any one knows of any others.....

I kind of would have liked to see a series with some of these stars..

Arabella Weir and Paul Burrell were both named in the first series lineup but withdrew due to injury.

Same thing happened to Chesney Hawkes in 2012.

I think you will find Roxanne Pallett actually made the cut and was part of the main show Series 4 partnered with Dan Whiston. Danny Foster was a reserve can't remember which series but think it may have been series 5.

In other words all the usual zelebs who sign up for anything with "Celeb" in the title or are desperate to get their faces back on tv!

Matt Cutler was rumoured to take part but to the best of my knowledge either wasn't asked or declined.

He would have been a huge attraction for SCD fans so I can't believe that he failed an audition.

Im sure Gazza was supposed to appear in one series but for whatever reason he dropped out.

Gazza was meant to be in the BBC version Strictly Ice Dancing in 2004 but got injured and was replaced by David Seaman who went on to win it.

Scott Mills (from Radio 1) regularly makes fun of the fact that he auditioned for Dancing on Ice one year but could barely stand on the ice let alone skate.
