Todd Carty Entertaining?
Can't skate!
Not much of an actor. Certainly does not entertain! A ridiculous result. DOI is supposed to be about skating! |

There is something oddly entertaining about three assistants coming on to lift his partner for him. its a bit like turning on Wimbledon and seeing Andy Murray have 3 other people hitting the balls back for him when he has to move. There's a great comedy sketch in there somewhere.

They have shot themselves in the foot by having him back. Probably weren't expecting the public to keep him in, resulting in a good skater going.
Todd is neither funny nor entertaining. |

I admit I laughed at the time he skated off set.
Once. I didn't the other twenty million times it's been shown. |

Do the public see the fear in his eyes? I do. I think he would be more than happy to be voted off IMO.
As for the original question, sometimes he can be entertaining, but I think it's more that Todd is very likeable, down to earth, has no ego, and people will naturally vote for the person at the bottom of the leader board. |

I thought Joe was a lot funnier, and he grew to be an ok skater too. He's naturally funny and you do laugh at home and want him to do well. Todd however is simply an iffy skater who is there to embarrass himself, something I don't and never did find funny but the public obviously do.

Is it fear? I'm not sure it is, he wouldn't have agreed to come back if he hated it that much.

If the celebs get paid £10,000 I would guess this lot will get a similar amount - not to be sniffed at.

Have to confess I did have a little chuckle tonight. I wouldn't vote or him though but equally if the public want to see him stay then that's the way it goes.
He won't last much longer though - 1 or 2 weeks maximum and I really don't see that David or Gary are any great loss to the show. I can't get worked up about smug Sam being in the skate off either. I don't think Jason helped matters either - being a little kind to Joe was probably a better tactic. |

I thought David played ice hockey and goes skating regularly, how the hell can he be frightened? |

As I have always said, if you were to describe dancing in a very basic term to an alien who is visiting Earth you would have to say it is effectively walking but with an awful lot of artistic steps. Walking has been the one inherent life skill in humans since time began. It is the most important of all life skills. But skating is a skill that isn't naturally occurring. To learn to even stand up straight and move takes a lot of practice time. DOI asks them to then at the same time learn complex steps and lifts. The likes of Todd and Joe stood no chance. They aren't as quick at picking up as Suzanne Shaw or Ray Quinn. But were seemingly made to pay. It is like the producer said "Well, since you can't be a competitive celebrity, you can be the entertaining buffoon" I felt sorry for Todd last night when we survived because survival only means more humiliation next week. |

For someone who earns a living as a jobbing actor, competent but by no means outstanding, allowing himself to be turned into a clown or buffoon, and to be humiliated in front of millions may not do his career, such as it is, a lot of good.
When he appears on TV in future many people will not see the character, (always a little difficult with Todd performing anyway), but rather they will see the clown. Not a good career move. Joe could get away with it because he had personality and a natural ability to be funny, but Todd - never in his wildest dreams. Still, he is no doubt laughing all the way to the bank. |

He's potentially entertaining and did have one of the best accidental performances that is fondly remembered. He was also set to reprise it if he was in the top two of the bottom three. This is where it gets tricky - you like Todd Carty, you want to see the 'Help' performance again, he's different from all the other perfect contestants so you vote. You don't know how much to vote to avoid immediate elimination and all of a sudden he's safe.
The real question is where are all the people who should have been voting for Sam? Maybe he's lost a bit of his shine or some are seeing him for what he's really like? Maybe they assumed he'd be safe even with a few wobbles. Maybe his performance was far too cheesy lacking any subtlety and genuine emotion. Maybe now he's taken he's not so desirable anymore. Maybe his family forgot to vote. I don't know. I doubt Todd will survive next week unless he pulls one out of the bag then you get to see the 'Help' routine anyway.

I don't find him entertaining to be honest. I liked Joe last week as his skate was not great but he could do stuff. Todd can just about skate.
I realise a lot of people liked him but I really think he should not have been brought back as a real contestant they could have had an extra segment where he cameback as a memorable skater. |
