Sam did not like being in the skate-off
Sam did not take being in the skate-off well. Yeah it was surprise and he did not deserve to there based on his skating but to say he was angry won't make him any fans from viewers

He didn't seem angry to me. Just a bit miffed, which isn't surprising at all.

To be honest you can't blame him - he'd come back expecting to be up there competing with Ray and Kyran, not in the skate off week one

I liked his honesty, it made a change from all the scripted "Oh I don't mind, everyone is really good" blah blah blah stuff they usually come out with.

He always was a bit cocky. I remember it really turned me off him first time round.
He is clearly gutted that Ray Quinn is better than him. I don't want his love life rammed down my throat every week either. |

I think when you go back as a former champion and Todd flipping Carty beats you that's got to be annoying

Did he win it in whatever year he appeared? It must have been a weak year, as he didn't strike me as having either a particularly great skating ability, or a winning personality.
I thought he seemed a tad overweight, unfit, and he cocked up a few moves on the ice too. I'm not really surprised he ended up in the skate-off. |

My memory of him on the show previously is that he nearly always got high scores ( over marked in my opinion) but when some voting figures were released he hadn't been very popular with the public. Apologies if I am wrong though. I do feel he was overmarked this week too, there were a few moves which didn't seem to be finished off well yet still brilliant scores...

I thought he might come across as a bit more likeable with Vicky than he did with Brianne but no.
Whilst the romance with Vicky is genuine it did feel rammed down our throats somewhat & was all too sickly sweet for my liking. Given it was down to the public vote alone that always left room for a surprise or two. At least he got a chance in the skate off - Jorgie was in exactly the same place on the leaderboard as him last week and went straight home with no 2nd chances so he should be grateful for that at least. He will probably get a bit of a bounce back vote next week but his reaction to being in the skate off won't do him any favours in the long term. It's one thing being disappointed but he came across as very whiny about it. He was the same in his series - he could never take criticism very well. He also wasn't helped by being overmarked. The judges clearly haven't learned from last year that the public don't take well to people being overmarked. His mistakes should have been reflected in his score. I suspect that as he's been in the skate off though they will continue to overmark him in order to try & protect him. |

Laura, Chloe and Sam had all made a visit to the bottom two before the final, so the public really didn't have any kind of favourite in his series. I agree that it was no surprise. He made two obvious mistakes in his performance, and the fact that the judges still gave him such a high score is baffling. Quote:
He he the one that was in the final last year and the judges were more than miffed when he didn't win?

After what happened to Jorgie last week I wasn't in the least bit surprised to see Sam in the skate off. He's been pretty annoying both weeks, mugging to camera whenever Christine was in the seating area.
In his first series he was someone who let complacency affect his performance and that crept in again last night. The main reason why he won such a close final was that both Chloe and Laura had a below-par routine and he happened to be on top form. This year he needs to get it into his head that he is - at most - the third best skater in the contest. Maybe even fifth because Kyran and Beth will graft to improve their weak spots. Another factor could be fans having a long memory regarding how he faked a relationship with Brianne. So they might be a bit cynical to see him acting all loved up with Vicky although I've no doubt they're genuine this time. The Twitter reaction I saw was very much 50-50 between those who thought their routine was the cutest thing ever and those who thought it nauseatingly twee. Add that to the annoyance at his over-marking and cue the inevitable backlash. With the Riverdance he's been forced to play his trump card far too early. He's going to struggle to come up with anything that spectacular again for the skate off. |

Well I quite enjoyed seeing 'riverdance' again, but Sam was hard to like at times in his year,I preferred Laura that year, though Sam had some good routines and at his best made me sit up and take notice.

It came as a shock to them both: http://www.mkweb.co.uk/News/Milton-K...0114194916.htm Quote:
“Unfortuantely we did end up in the skate-off, which I have to admit was a bit of a shocker as we were quite highly scored by the judges. This week the judges scores are combined with the public’s, so that could make a difference. So that answers that - the public vote only was just the first two weeks

I have some sympathy with him. He's s come off a touring musical which went on a xmas break, straight into panto, skate trained while doing a panto, done his opening show and this week went back to the musical. His first day this week was evidently skate, post break musical rehearsal, musical dress rehearsal, musical first night Bristol...
A Skate off after all that work would be a bit annoying.... |

Which would annoy any normal person. Being invited back because you were a successful performer in an earlier series and then seeing probably the most boring and incompetent contestant in the history of such shows going through, (Todd the Clod), would be reason enough. |
