Basically, it becomes a bit like Sky. But instead of TV channels you get a set of web sites in your subscription fee, the rest of the web becoming Pay per View.

edit - It does have strong hints of being a 'snare'.

Maybe bad for competition on the internet but it would be really good for consumers if this happened in the UK.

I disagree.
It may be good in the short term, but surely in the longer term this can only be bad? If every ISP did this then you would kill competition and innovation. You would never have got services like Netflix, YouTube, iPlayer, Spotify etc etc.

I was also thinking of things like Blackbery services, Google services and Apple services.

If networks become a toll road, even the inner workings of smart devices can be charged fees for, even if they were once free.

Manufacturers will also have to negotiate access their own access and pay for these, otherwise they lose custom because of toll gates.

"dealt a deadly blow to net neutrality on Tuesday by striking down the FCC's open Internet rules"

"the last thing Obama wants to be known for is destroying the internet."

Could well be though.

Are A T & T planning thisor are they waiting an OK from a new Trump or Bush President?
The tamer of the two, Bush said of Net Neutrality in that link as the "craziest idea he's ever heard."

I do see bundled subscription web sites coming in some way, maybe these being part of your phone contract.
