HDR-FOXT2 Cannot select recording list

I have a HDR-FOXT2 and it has developed a fault i.e select 'Media' to bring up list of recordings, screen dimms but no list of programmes appears!
As you select media and screen dimms, can see a very brief flash of
'processing' appear.
Have noticed over the last week that deleting programmes has become very slow compared with 'normal' deletion times.
Have tried numerous mains switch offs etc but makes no difference to problem.
Anyone any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

In all probability it's the hard disk is on it's way out. If it's less than 2 years old contact Humax for a replacement unit. If not it's a simple job to put in a new hard disk.

I wonder if formatting the hard drive would be worth trying?

If the recordings have been corrupted beyond recovery then probably got nothing to lose. If you are lucky it's a file system corruption and a format might sort the problem out.

Many thanks Chrisjr and Grahamlthompson for your much appreciated advice!
Though not well versed in such things all the indications point to the HD i.e

Severe intremittant break up on recordings.

Very,very slow to delete programmes.

Several instances of loss of recordings list.

Box diagnostics said HD Fail-error code 1.
Offered a choice to reformat which I went for but another error message saying unable to reformat!
It's now on its way back to John Lewis as under two years old.
It's a beautiful machine but I do wonder if perhaps they are now so complicated that they are a problem waiting to happen?
You have only to read the myriad of problems listed in this forum to appreciate just how unreliable even a top of the range machine like this is.
I do wonder if it would make more sense to buy a 'cheapie' and just bin it when it went wrong?
Anyway will wait to see what the wonderful JL come-up with!

I think the number of problem reports is quite small relative to the number of boxes sold. People don't come on to Forums to say that the box is working fine.

John Lewis have come up trumps!
Within two days phoned to say they were on the case and would speak to Humax.
Few days later another phone call to confirm Fox T2 would be replaced by HDR 2000T !
Now have the new box but feel it inferior to the older Fox T2.
The differences in the two are well documented in the DS Forums but I cannot for the life of me understand why ,just to save a few pounds,Humax did away with the front panel display?
People do not buy Humax because it is the cheapest-they buy it because it is the best and no one would have minded paying another £15 or so for a front panel display!
This HDR 2000T is a very poor replacement for the superb Fox T2!
A great shame as Humax had the opportunity to build on the many strengths of the Fox T2 and come up with a mind blowing replacement-sadly they have not done so.
Watch the price of the remaining Fox T2's start to climb as people rush to buy before they are history!!!!!

Personally I never look at the display so losing it is of no significance for me. I do think that not being clear whether the HDR-2000T is in standby or recording is silly and hopefully will be improved with a software update.
