Unlocking iphone Q
So I am selling my old iphone as I have upgraded. It is locked to tesco mobile which uses O2s signal. I decided to get it unlocked to make it easier to sell as tesco do this for free if you are at the end of your contract.
The lady explained that it couldn't be unlocked using a tesco mobile, O2 or giffgaff sim as they all use the same network, and that the phone is likely to lock to the network of the first sim inserted. Can anyone explain what this means? I thought once you unlocked a phone it could be used on any network? Also I was told I would receive a code via email to unlock the phone. If I choose not to use this code does the phone remain locked? |

The person advising you is incorrect. The way the iPhone is unlocked differs to other phones. You request the phone to be unlocked, when they tell you that it's done, you need to insert a sim card from another provider, and activate the phone again. Once that's done it should be unlocked.
You can activate the phone using wifi or via a cable to your computer to connect to iTunes. There is no unlock code. |
