Hi all,

Can anyone please help?

The mobile data keeps dropping of every 5 to 10 seconds driving me crazy! Everything was fine until yesterday afternoon I noticed it kept dropping off then didn’t think much of it but back to office today and still no stable internet.

Chrome page says;

You are offline

Wi-Fi and mobile data are turned off. The page can be loaded once you connect to a network.

Error code:
ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECT

I tried stock browser but still same disconnection happens.

I am in the same office I was using internet without any problem for months, nothing has changed apart from mobile data sign H on my Samsung S3 keeps disappearing and coming back causing internet to drop.

It can’t be my phone as it is ok when I go home and connect to Wi-Fi network. The signal is good I have 4 bars out of 5 and made several calls today without any problem but the internet just keeps dropping.

I have turned mobile data off and back on restarted the phone but still no joy.

Appreciate any advice.

It might be useful to know your location. Have others in your location experienced similar issues. Three are busy activating 4G so planned work could be to blame. Also, try your phone in another location (WiFi doesn't count - it's using a different radio in your phone)

Thanks I am in West Sussex, there is no one with 3 network in my office so can't check if anyone is having similar issues. There is no planned update to 4G around here yet so it can't be planned work.

I went into kitchen to make a cuppa but still have same disconnection problems but interestingly I have nearly full bar as we are on the top floor.

No problem with making and receiving calls just the internet keeps dropping. I thought with 3 network if you have signal you have both calls and internet. I never knew you could have only internet or calls.

Maybe I give them a ring when I get home. This is not normal.

I used to have this same issue with HTC One with the "3G or "H" logo disappearing them reconnecting.

Swapped phones to lumia 925 and the issue went away. Its likely the phone at fault rather than the network

When you get home, try turning off WiFi so that you can check out H on a different cell. If one customer has problems on one cell, it's very hard to say whether it's the phone or the cell that's at fault!

I had a similar issue last week. There was a fault on the mast in my area near work and I reported it. It was fixed the next day. If you have Twitter or Facebook, try contacting Three there.

If it helps, I had a similar issue and it turned out to be my phone.

It has a setting whereby if the battery was below a certain level it went into what's called 'stamina mode', which turned off any unnecessary functions in order to save power.

Data traffic was one of them.

Also, as the previous poster said, phone three tech support and they will inform you of any network maintenance.

Ive had no 3G signal in Telford since this morning, called Three up and they claim no mast issues in area. At least two other people with same problem in same location as me. Case been passed to network support team but can take up to 2 days to get any response!

Also i used to get 5 bars of signal in my work address and flawless 3G service in my work address until the national data outage Three had last June. Once they fixed that, the 3G service has been no where near as good for my work address. Numerous calls to tech support and Three claim several visits to the masts by engineers and they state nothing wrong with the network.

I've had this problem once previously. To be fair though I was in the middle of a busy shopping centre/market in Manchester a few weeks before Christmas. The load on the masts must have been sky high..

To be honest I'm finding the shine of three is wearing off somewhat over the part few months, signal seems much worse lately at home and work then it has been in the previous 2 years of being with them, my downstairs signal has always been poor but now upstairs is only 1 or 2 bars where it was mostly full signal in the past, internet now seems limited to 6mbps where or when ever I check it, this must be a deliberate link as the reading is too similar every time I check it, only uploads seem to vary,
I also work in Telford and the industrial estate I'm on is the only place I ever see the 3G symbol on my S4 instead of the usual H.. When checking the coverage map it's the only mast amongst a sea of others that hasn't been upgraded, though this was never a problem until a note appeared on the map warning of mast work, now since then, the mast is still older technology so no upgrade, but now even though it seems to sit on 3G when no data is been used just as before, it takes an age to switch to H+ and start downloading data... Not good for speed or streaming, but the most annoying thing for me is the lack of data on the 2g back up, I was on the understanding it had mainly been switched off but it still seems to be everywhere I am and once the S4 switches to it, it sticks on it for ages before switching back,
Most the old orange masts are edge around here so basic data would still be possible on EE yet I'm stuck with nothing, three need to switch it off or fill he gaps in data..
So, things to sum up on my three rant:
- slowing of data speeds which means there's now not much advantage over EE's tmobile full Monty plan
- deterioration of signal strength
- annoying 2g backup with no data at all
- no sign of 4g arriving anytime soon
- even less of a sign of 800 4g arriving helping out rural areas and indoor coverage

That said, other networks have there own issues too, many much worse then three

We had big problems with the Three internet connection via a dongle onto a laptop , rang Mumbai ? to be told no problems with the service in our area it was blamed on the laptop
I brought another laptop from home it had the same problem, suspecting a fault with the sim card, popped into a local Three shop on the High street to be told a Local mast in Castleford had been robbed of vital parts by local scrap collectors

Ah yes, the "consistently improved" 3 customer services we keep hearing about...

Where I have had a fault they were able to tell me about the work going on at the local mast, what it was for and when it would be complete and called back after it was complete to check. They also added credit to my account without me even asking.

This morning you admitted again to being on the windup in this forum by saying you faked and made up moaning about Three's delayed 4G in December, but now in January you're genuinely upset by the delays. I find that quite hard to believe since you have 4G on 3 other networks and have posted 4G screenshots on Three.

I suspect once again like with the comments about customer service that you're on the windup with Jabbamk1 as you've already had a lot of discussion about the Ofcom figures with him and you know the Ofcom complaints are below industry average. You know with all networks that there will be some users with issues and nothing is ever perfect everywhere on any network.

I joined Three yesterday and was amazed at the lightening fast data speeds compared to the non existent voda data speeds I have experienced over the past year.

Then tonight, all of a sudden slow, YouTube not loading, web pages slow. Was so looking forward to passing a bit of time watching Sherlock on iplayer too.

I'm I'm Sheffield.

First I tethered on my iPad. YouTube , 4OD and I player were forever loading and not doing anything.

Then the same thing on the iPhone without tethering,

Speed test app showed 0.28 mbs download 0.58 upload on iPad tethering

I think it would be worth calling them and logging a fault in that case, they might be able to let you know about capacity issues and if they are planning upgrades in your area etc.

Let us know how you get on.

I'm surprised nobody's started regurgitating the conspiracy theories yet, claiming 3 must be deliberately crippling 3G in order to make people upgrade to 4G...

Yes those are silly except in the case of Vodafone where they have deliberately capped 3G speeds unless you upgrade to a 4G plan.

Dunno how true that is but I have been with voda for the past year and I've consistently had dropped calls, no 3G data, even when on 3G it's often really slow. Painful experience and I can't wait to PAC my way out in the next month.

Despite my bad experience with 3 tonight I will give them a chance as reception seems to be a lot better than voda anyway.

On no it's official, it's listed on their website. They cap 3G at 10Mb/s now unless you pay to buy a 4G plan.

10Mb/s is very reasonable though, but it is still a bit naughty when customers weren't capped before they brought 4G out. That wouldn't account for the issues you describe though.

Yeah the 10Mb/s cap is definitely a reality and as you say a bit naughty given what people had before. My local Vodafone 3G site is very fast and before the cap even with single carrier HSPA+ I used to get 15-16 Mb/s with my work provided Vodafone sim. When the cap came in this dropped to 9.9. Now I have a 4G sim there is no cap. What I find bizarre is the the non 4G upload cap is 8 Mb/s which can't be of any consequence currently (unless they start allowing non 4G plans access to 4G).
