The mobile data keeps dropping of every 5 to 10 seconds driving me crazy!
I'm having a similar problem this morning, though not as severe. I can surf the web for example.

Things were not good at home even at 5:30am, and I'm now at work with the same issue (7:10am) and even slower speeds.

Maybe Three are gearing up to turn on 4G, but I suspect it's more likely to be the sort of glitch all networks experience from time-to-time.

I do wish Three would get a move on and get public 4G up and running though. I'm really looking forward to lower latency and faster upload speeds.

Does your throughput happen to look a bit like this?

If so, definitely something funny going on, and quite widespread by the looks of it too.

The way it's affecting me is 100% packet loss every few seconds, for 1-2 seconds at a time. Only happens during periods of high data throughput:

While idle, nothing odd happens:

Can't say if this is the same as everyone else is experiencing but certainly in my location this is very much abnormal network behaviour.

Just an update guys.

I don’t think it is my phone. I turned off the wifi and stayed on mobile data when I got home and it worked perfectly since last night, in actual fact, my download speed, before I left home this morning, was 9.5mbps. Not bad for none LTE Samsung S3

Back to office H+ logo keeps disappearing and I keep getting webpage unavailable message then comes back after 20 seconds and let me surf 20 seconds then drops again. I thought maybe it was my desktop pc on the desk interfering with it and I moved the pc under my desk but still no joy.

Sometimes H logo stays there but just + sign disappears and arrows under H logo just stay black so I don’t get usual orange and green flash when it works.

Just stopped using the phone to write this message for a few minutes and when I went back, yeap you guessed right, as soon as I click on the link on the very same web page it waited, waited, waited then H+ logo completely disappeared and I got the usual web page unavailable message.

Error 7 (net:ERR_TIMED_OUT) the operation timed out.

If it was not a relatively expensive phone I would throw it out of the top floor window

Interestingly if I walked out of the building and walk away a couple of minutes, it would work ok outdoor so clearly it is location related problem which I have never had before. Some office, same desk, same chair, everything same apart from the internet connection!

I called three on 333 but the options are to check my free allowances, buy handset from them, make a payment or talk more about my number. There is no option to report a fault.

Does anyone know any number I can call direct from my phone to report this fault please?

Cheers

Talk more about your number would seem the obvious option of the 4.

Does sound like a problem with the cell. Be sure to give them the postcode of the building where you are experiencing the fault.

I guess I'll try again later as there is a automated message telling me they are imporiving service doing upgrade etc, so no one to talk on option 4 at the moment.

Thanks will do so. I have just discovered that internet is working if I walk to the nearest window and stay there!

I used to get this (a few months ago) when being traffic managed by TrafficSense. If I switched my connection off and then back on again and tethered but connecting to a VPN on my laptop as soon as I connected it my iPhone then it would run fine. Would often get a constant 1-2Mbps whilst connecting via the VPN.

TrafficSense should not be in effect at 8am.

Ironically, now that TrafficSense should be in operation (5pm) the effect has gone away.

I only ever had the problem during TrafficSense period.

Another update;

I called them and the first lady I spoke to told me there was a fault in the area and put me through the network engineer just to be told there was no fault in the area and when I questioned him why suddenly internet started dropping he told me it could be like that for next 1 to 3 months!

I said that’s not good enough and even though I am still in my 12 months sim only contract I would consider terminating my contract because they could not provide what we agreed at the start of the contract then he offered some discount to my monthly sub after I mention the termination of the contract then I said I am not fussed about the money I am happy to pay the full price as long as you can provide me the service I was getting until 48 hours ago!

He offered me some sort of signal booster but I told him this was a work place and I had no access to routers but just the power socket, extension cable, under my desk. Then he said it would not work without the router.

I don’t think the signal needs boosting because I have 2 to 3 bars out of 4 on signal bar all the time so clearly it is not the signal.

After reading the latest reply on this thread I am beginning to believe maybe they are throttling my internet but I am not a heavy user never download large files, watch Sky Go sometimes and have only done tethering a handful of times when I was on holiday to use my tablet.

Funny thing is I was so impressed with the internet speed and network I have recently transferred my wife’s number to 3 as well.

I am using my work internet to send this message as my phone, yet again, says the web page is not available and I have 3 bars on the signal notification. H logo changes to 3G and sometime disappears and comes back 30 seconds later.

Either they have put me on traffic sense whatever they call it or they are refusing to send out an engineer for only one customer/complaint because the network engineer did mention if they get more complaints in particular area they escalate it to engineer team for repair.

I did ask him if they have received any other complaint around this area he told me he was just looking at my account would not know if there was more complaint in this area.

This is just not good enough shame after transferring my wife number to 3, I will have to terminate this contract and find another network and start all over again. I was reading some network reviews before I transferred my number to 3 and they all mentioned wait until you have a problem and contact customer services.

Now I understand what they mean if you don’t have problem, as I didn’t for the last 6-7 months they are great, but if you do have a problem you are on your own!

My advice to anyone is that do not sign 24 month contract with 3 because you may be stuck in the middle if they provide you with handset, in my case I have my own handset and sim only deal so I'll probably be able to terminate my contract but you lot may not be so lucky if they give you the latest Iphone!
