Hello!

I live in Ellesmere Port but I often travel to Chester I have an EE sim and O2 sim both on contract I currently use the EE sim as my main (and the O2 sits unused in my house)

Does anyone have any exp. with O2 in Chester (Indoors) currently EE is dropping to GPRS and more often that not No Service indoors around Chester (even right in the centre) I know all about the signal penetration discussions with O2 being on the 900 band.

I was looking for users actual experiences in and around Chester

Thanks
BD

Glad to help if can't give from personal experience but I know a few friends who live in Chester and work in Ellesmere Port actually I work at Ellesmere Port as well on occasion. As you say Chester is not the best for 3G signal in Chester center though rural Chester is pretty good I find. From what I've been told in the past Vodafone is better for 3G in Chester with O2 being better on 2G. With cornerstone underway though it might be the same for both now.

Hope that helps at least a little.

How is the cornerstone project being ran? How are they deciding what masts to merge and remove from service?

Cheers

Honestly not sure at all really I think each network is doing a particular part of the country for both networks. Not sure which network is doing Cheshire though sorry I couldn't be more help. Though I know recently a friend of mine said that signal in Chester should increase on EE/Three soon. Which wouldn't be that surprising as it is pretty bad at moment struggle get a 3G signal in a lot of outside places.

It'll vary by area, as part of the major cornerstones of the cornerstone project was splitting up the management of the network geographically between the existing companies.

In Edinburgh what I've seen so far is almost all merges and no masts being removed from service, which is great. Even where VF and O2 have duplicate masts very close to each other, both are seeing 4G upgrades with neither being switched off. Yet.

YMMV. I have no experience of Chester myself. Most reliable way to determine how the signal will work for you is to grab a free PAYG SIM from the network of interest and try it yourself.
