I have just started re-watching BB7 and if any housemate in big brother history was bullied it definitely was Shahbaz! Yes he may have been OTT and in your face and hid the food but no1 deserves the treatment he had as is disgracefull and disgusting. For instant at one time all 13 housemates cornered him in the kitchen, kept throwing his food away, locked him outside and stole his clothes, verbally abused him and made him feel like a outcast and tbh it is disgusting big brother let them get away with it and I couldn't help but feel very sorry for him and the main ring leaders - Richard,nikki, lisa and sezer well my opinion on them changed a lot and they make me sick TBH rant over!

Hated Richard so much throughout the whole series because of that. But yes that was disgusting to watch, I know to avoid that first week if I ever watch BB7 again.
The Shahbaz part of BB7 was really hard to watch, producers definitely should'nt have put him in knowing there was problems with his mental health
BB7 was the first non-celeb series I'd watched, so it was a bit of a baptism of fire for me seeing the way the other HMs treated him. It didn't sit well with me, and I don't think he should have been allowed to take part.

That the same for me how the hell they got away with it without warning is beyond me surly big brother could see the poor fella in tears in the pool
It was horrible but it was must-watch TV at the time. It started the series with a bang and became gripping television for a while, whether it was horrible or not.
Shabaz was incredibly annoying and refused point blank to modify his behaviour even when requested to politely (by Glen, (to stop touching him) and gently by Dawn.
He had little to no respect for anyone else and although the treatment he received was not pleasant viewing, the other housrments were driven to it and didn't know what else to do possibly due to a lack of experience with dealing with someone so difficult.

I remember another incident when Sezer threw out two of Shahbaz's bowls of cereal to wind him up and then when Shahbaz went to pour himself a third bowl, Lisa started shouting at him and Nikki said "He keeps throwing them away".

If I recall a lot happened off camera that really should have had him removed long before he voluntarily left. The roving reporting he did afterwards I think was a bit if a sop to keep him onside because he really should never have been in there. But you are absolute right the bullying was heartbreaking and even Pete was involved. I remember that the only peson who refused to ostracise him was George (the lad that was a Godson of the Queen Mother and who walked).
He did seem to be intent on bringing it on himself.I wonder how aisleyne would have reacted had she been in the house at the time.

I know what I saw and yes he might been a pain but doesn't excuse there behavior towards them and the first few episode he tried with them but they made there mind up from day 1 that they hated him

It was a very clear example of pack mentality I think. But in many cases he did push people to extremes. His treatment of Glyn off camera I do believe bordered on sexual harassment and Big Brother should have stepped in way before they did. It was a quite distressing to watch his meltdown and the others lose compassion for him. It was so manic how he dominated the early days of BB7.
I really liked Shabaz and was disgusting watching the bullying that was unfolding on the screen with absolutely nothing being done to stop it. Just pure nastiness. It was clear he has some issues, fragile state of mind and should have never been in the house in the first place. It was really uncomfortable to watch. Sam was treated horribly too in that season. Nasty bunch Sezer and his sheep.

Wether he annoyed the other housemates or not there was no need for what they did to him and for me the final straw was locking him outside and stealing his clothes and to think big brother allowed it to happen

Yes, I'm sure you are right. The same when they gave a clearly ill, drugged and bandaged Sree the 'most entertaining housemate' award on BBBM. And I think the same when they kept Mark on BBOTS for so long: he looked a bit bipolar and unravelled to me. They really should be a bit more careful.

Pete was very much a follower, but he did make a feeble attempt to sympathise with Shahbaz. He certainly wasn't the worst.

She had a kind heart, I always thought, and was fiercely on the side of underdogs. It would be nice to think she would have stuck up for him. But of course we will never know.
I've no idea why Big Brother thought it was a good idea to cast Shahbaz.
Of all the "extreme" characters we've had over the years, Shahbaz must surely be the most unstable. In retrospect, awarding him Big Brotherhood status was probably the start of his decline. I don't he was used to that amount of authority (he was, afterall, long term unemployed) and had no idea how to handle in.

Very uncomfortable, I remember the lock him outside, steal his clothes HL show very vividly. I remember thinking, "This is disgusting. Shahbaz shouldn't be in there, but most of these HMs are so nasty!". It may have been the onlu reason why Aisleyne was head and shoulders my favourite HM that series.
People asking "If Ais was there, what would she do?". I think she would have told them to stop. She had a kind heart and she knew when things were wrong, there is no way she would have taken that, even if all the HMs disagreed with her.
Note that during the BB7 final, Shahbaz gave Aisleyne a standing ovation when she exited and during her interview. I think maybe he thought that she would have defended him.

It was written by someone with major long-term mental health problems, who had written about them in the press. He said he had been approached by BB to ask if he would be interested in being a housemate. He decided not to do it. The shocking conclusion is that in BB7, in the hope of getting fireworks, they specifically targeted people with mental health problems. It was not coincidence that we had Nikki - who had a history of life-threatening mental health problems; Pete - who had a major and incurable neurological condition; Dawn - who said she had never had a friend and hated everyone; Lea, who had wildly exaggerated cosmetic surgery because of her body dysmorphic disorder; and Shahbaz. They were incredibly lucky imo that only Shahbaz (and arguably Dawn) really suffered from the experience.
That was awful, and Shahbaz definitely should not have been in there at all.
