Orange upgrade delivery / UKMail...what a pain in the arse
Has anyone experienced the chore that is getting a new phone delivered directly from Orange recently?
Yesterday morning I arranged to upgrade one of my contracts to an iPhone 5S, a couple of hours later I got a text from UKMail saying that it was booked for delivery today at 10:00-14:30, with a link to re-arrange delivery if this was inconvenient. So I tried to re-arrange and the only times they could offer were Mon-Fri 10:00-14:30, which is obviously no use to people that, y'know, have jobs. So I tried to change the delivery address to my partners workplace (as it's "her" phone, just under my name) "oh no we can't do that, you need to contact Orange if you want the delivery address changing" I rung Orange last night "errr, we can't do that, you'll need to ring UKMail in the morning, they'll sort it" O...K. Guess what happened when I rung UKMail this morning? "we can't change the delivery address without the sender's (eg Orange) approval" Failing that, I asked if they could possibly drop it off at a time when there will be someone in the house, eg after 4pm and they said maybe, I advised that it wouldn't be me and they said that this wouldn't be possible as it has GOT to be me, with photo ID, which I don't have. In desperation I rung Orange again and they grudgingly agreed to change the delivery address to my partners, but advised that due to it being a business address they would accept no liability if it disappeared, and that it would likely be next week. In short: AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. Compare this to my other upgrade from Carphone Warehouse in November, where it was delivered to my local store a couple of hundred yards from my house, where I could pick it up at my leisure. |

I'd cancel. If they can't provide a service that suits then go somewhere else.

Earlier this month they took the phone to the wrong address. 8 doors down. It said it had been signed for so orange couldn't do anything about it. I kicked off and it took them 5 days to correct the problem. They still tried to chsrge me for a missed delivery saying if I had been in the item wouldn't have been delivered to the wrong house.
Eventually they admitted their mistake and we got my wifes s4 and an apology woth 6 months half price line rental. Im due an upgrade in may and will be moving on from orange. Sadly 14 years of my business will go down the swanny |
