Yes I wonder how many of the anti-smoking brigade drink alcohol. A hell of a lot more than people who smoke!

I don't think anything can force them to choose to stop but for their own health they probably should
Glad you agree on the gambling. I spent 4 years working for Rank Leisure Group switching between Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor Casino's. Even in the lighter gambling of Bingo you could get the same people coming in every day and putting £500-£1000 pound every single day in slot machines and Bingo. Maybe one day of the week they would walk out with a profit and used that as means to justify what they did.
At Mecca Bingo I was a Team Leader and Non Gaming Supervisor (Legally can be in charge of the club while gambling is not in play - the result of passing an annoyingly long test) before leaving the company and in the short time there were people who lost their husbands and wives due to gambling. Relatives of a gambler coming in asking me to ban them from all Mecca Bingo clubs (Which we obliged too) but the gambling issue gets overlooked so much
Maybe the tax thing would help it steer in the right direction”
I entirely agree. The social implications are dreadful as with alcohol. I'm amazed the government has let this high earner pass them by and WHY? Taxing addiction is a very easy way to guarantee a huge income and is their forte. Instead they penalize people with an extra bedroom in council housing??? God knows what would happen if illegal drugs were ever legalized.

Yes the anti smoking brigade would never think of going without their precious cars to reduce air pollution, which is crippling kids with more asthma than this country has ever known. Let alone anything else! Let's all just turn a hypocritical blind eye to that FACT. I'm not and never have been a smoker and couldn't care less who chooses to smoke, in my home or otherwise. It's just the latest thing for hypocritical, whinging, objectionable people to get stuck into IMO. The evidence for the effects of passive smoking is NOT scientifically sound in any way shape or form FACT.
If it was banned they would all then be whinging about the cost in taxation to them
