Anyone know whether you can timer record from both Freeview and Saorview (ROI DTT)with BT Vision Youview box? There are problems with other PVRs e.g. Sony HDT 500 which will not timer record from both systems.

Depends whether the YV box can receive the EPG information for ROI channels directly.

Do other standard freeview boxes manage this?

I suspect it might depend on whether you receive Saorview direct from the Republic or the NImux. The NImux broadcasts in Ulster use DVB-T2 which is the same as Freeview HD but currently only offer the channels in SD. I understand the NImux transmissions appear on the Freeview EPG. Most boxes should add "extra" channels in the 800 number series.

One problem you may encounter is the "accurate recording" system that YouView boxes use to properly time recordings. These are signals sent as part of the TV signal telling recorders when to start and finish. This can vary from the published times. The use of accurate recording avoids the need to pad out recordings where the prior programme (say a soccer match) might end late. I am afraid I do not know if the direct Saorview service has this feature.

The YouView site has a Community Support forum which their employees monitor and comment on. You might get a more definitive answer there.
