Earlier this week, our couples merged for the first time and sadly it was Jack (jacksinclairx) & Vicky who lost out after the first skate off of the series

Today the remaining 9 couples will take on ”90s Revisited”
For this they had to submit a suitable song choice. As well as this they had to choose an outfit for themselves OR their pro partner but it had to be the opposite one to who they picked last round. They were allowed to submit links, or write a description about the outfit or both.

For this rounds twist the couples have been split into 3 Teams of 3

The team who score the highest total as a whole will gain a 5 point vote advantage when the lines are opened

. The team who score the lowest collectively will incur a 5 point vote penalty

whilst the middle scoring team will not receive a vote penalty, or receive a vote advantage.

Song: 'When A Man Loves A Woman' by Michael Bolton

Male Outfit: The male is wearing a long-sleeved white shirt, which is tucked into a pair of plain black trousers. However, these trousers have a vertical stripe down the centre of each leg, which is coloured a pale red to allude to the romantic nature of the song. He is also wearing a crimson red cravat, which has a matching clip holding it in, so as to avoid any possibility of a 'wardrobe malfunction'. Over the top of his shirt is a black jacket, which has a red rose in its upper pocket, keeping with the romantic feel - this is given to the female at the end of the routine by the male. The skates are predominantly black with a crimson red outline around them, as they are designed to look like formal shoes, and his hair is neatly slicked back.

Jas’: Lovely song choice which does represent the 90's fairly well, the costume was well detailed and I definetley felt a romantic atmosphere. I am impressed.

Female Outfit: Link
I have choose they lovely simple white dress. I feel that this is the right type of dress from the emotional song. The light material will move lovely when she moves around the rink. To finish off the outfit she will have white skates with small crystals on them

Nick: It’s a nice little concept and there was no doubt about the dress suiting the song. The song has the emotion but lacked any wow factor.

A much better score than last round. More than double in fact. That gives them a total of 16.5

Male Outfit: The male outfit would be a white plain t-shirt with a denim jacket on top (with some sparkles) and jeans. This is to replicate the denim theme of the music video and to represent the innocence of the song.

Connor: While I liked your take on the performance and your homage to the original video, it was a little bit safe and their wasn't much imagination put into the outfit, it was a little similar to Gareth Thomas's outfit in the real series. I could see what you were trying to do but I needed a little bit more to up my mark. Well done though!

Male Outfit: He will be wearing a traditional black and white tuxedo with a red rose attached to the left side, to give the dance a kind of deep romantic and glamorous feel to make the subsequent heartbreak of the song feel even sadder.

Izzie: 'The song gave you real potential to create a costume to reflect the emotion of it, which I can see you tried to do, but it didn't quite come off for me. A tuxedo just didn't really channel the pain of the break-up in the song for me. However, I thought the song choice was beautiful and gave a lot of scope for storyline and romance.'

Song: 'A Change Would Do You Good' from Sheryl Crow

Male Outfit: In the first half of the performance, the male is wearing a black lycra shirt with sequins across the cuffs. This is accompanied by black trousers with sequins across the bottom. The skates are also black. This is supposed to resemble just a plain person in the story. However, half way through the performance, around 1:16, the shirt changes from black to yellow and orange. The trousers change to just orange, and the skates stay black. This resembles the change of personality and clothing.

Female Outfit: The female will be wearing a blue dress which comes up to about 4 inches above the knee, it will have one strap on the left hand side which will be full of blue diamantes

She will be wearing purple skates.

Jas’: My problem with this routine is that like many others, you nailed the song choice but you weren't as good with your costumes, still fairly good though.

Dean: I like the song. Unusual choice, I wouldn't of chosen this. The outfit disturbs me. It reminds me of a ghost. I think you were very safe in the choice, and if I am being honest its bland.

Song: 'Jump Around' from House of Pain.

Male Outfit: The male costume is a white Lycra v-neck top. On top of that is a swaggy leather jacket, and a bulky metal chain around his neck. On his head he wears a black baseball cap. For trousers he will wear tight leather trousers, and his skates are disguised to look like trainers - they are white with coloured streaks. The costume fits in with the rap theme, as well as not being too impractical.

Izzie: 'When I heard the song, I smiled immediately. I thought it was a great choice which gave the routine. I also liked the way your costumes and really continued the character of the song through them.'

Song: 'Common People' - Pulp.

Male Outfit: My outfit choice for the male would be black trousers, quite fitting down the leg (ie not skin tight, but not loose!) a black shirt, with white buttons and maybe a white collar too. He would also wear a thin tie, in a silver grey colour. His hair would be styled in a typical 90's Jarvis Cocker style if possible, with a side parting and longish fringe (not too long so that he couldn't see where he was going though!).

Part of the dance would include the clapping, and typical dance that went along with the song - to keep the theme running through!

Dean: Erm where to start. To be honest you just described Jarvis Cocker in the video. Theres no imagination there at all. And what the clapping has to do with the outfit I have no idea. In addition I don't think the song worked. Sorry. Its your third routine, I expect imagination.

Some very tight scores and a lot of couples very close

And anything could happen after the public vote, particularly with tonight’s twist

So we can see that Team JustBrownChicken have triumphed in the twist with a collective total of 51.5 meaning that JJ & Katie, Myk & Alexandra and Tom & Frankie will all receive a 5 point vote advantage. Well done

But coming incredibly close to each other are the other 2 teams, separated by a mere 2 points. But Team RosDeeDong finish second with a collective total of 46.0 meaning that although they won’t receive a vote advantage, Jamie & Nina, Niall & Brianne and Ross & Robin, dodge a vote penalty

Finishing ever so closely behind with a collective total of 44.0 are Team StuBiThic. It was so close and you did so well but unfortunately, tonight’s twist means that Mitch & Maria, Rhian & Daniel and Stuart & Kristina will all receive a 5 point vote penalty

But it’s up to you who goes through to the next round

You've all upped your game and scored pretty well. It's just because of it being so tight, some of you take a slip on the leader board and at first glance it looks worse than it is. But when you take note of the scores, a lot of you are neck and neck
