The Sky "Hidden" Live Feed Channel
RabidWolverine1

Hey All

This is one for people to remember but I think was up untill BB8 or BB9 where Channel 4 had a "Secret Hidden" live feed channel which you accessed by changing the frequency on your Sky box. It operated with the same adverts as E4. (It was a great idea to be honest )

I remember a year or two ago we had someone come on the forum saying he worked for Big Brother for a few years and answered some questions for people (And got a hard time but what else is new? Some on this forum also gave a hard time and drove away Aaron Morgan, Cameron, Jonty though he still makes appearences and so on even though they all just seemed to try and be nice by answering questions). Either way I think one of the things he said was Channel 4 dropped it because the ratings were showing signs of falling and that if they remained stable it probably would have stayed on .

The question is this series of CBB has sky rocketed for them despite very little being spent on advertising. Im not just talking about ratings but im also talking about media outlets who had written BB off about 5 years ago are now treating it as must see tv again. Even ITV are paying it a lot of attention.

Do you think this could ever make a return? I know the average is about 2.5 Million but if you look at the ratings for BB9 there is not that much difference.

It may be a long shot but it would be a great thing for it to return and operate the same adverts as Channel 5 or 5*?

Ahh the good old days

I can go back to when E4 had the red button & you had the choice of two Live camera's 24/7

I wish we could have the 24/7 cameras back for BB & CBB But I don't see it happening

I think 24 hour live feed was doomed from the moment people actually called the police during "Fight Night". If people had let the TV companies deal with it and left the police and OFCOM out of it, things may have been different.

I remember for BB2 there was 2 live feeds, a 2 hour delay feed and a 4 hour delay feed. They were all still on during show times too. I remember watching the final and then watching the 2 and 4 hour delay feeds to make it last a bit longer. They were late turning the feeds off, as we saw security go in the house with some other people all looking around. They even played with the swingball in the garden. It was like watching burgulers. They also left the spin cam that was fixed to the dining table switched on for a couple of weeks after the series and that was spooky seeing the house all dark, except for the daylight streaming through the patio doors.

Sigh, happy days.

Your post made me smile...I SOOO know what you mean. I was at Uni and also holding down 2 jobs. I remember falling asleep on the sofa exhausted and waking up to screams and it all kicking off. I was shocked awake and kept watching for hours, it was just fabulous.

Most of the time the live feed was proper boring!

I think it should come back though as that's the whole point of the show 'Big Brother is always watching'

Haha! I think live feed is the only way to get around the editing bias that seems to have been prominent since moving over to C5

From the moment live feed burst into life, I don't think I ever switched it off until they pulled the plug. It was on 24/7 in my house. My youngest kids were ashamed of me. It probably explains why now at the ages 21 and 24 they can't stand BB.

Ah yes, 'fight night' and the forum was in melt-down, especially when they turned the live feed off and we got the birds, speculation was palpable.

BB was unique and live feed was a major part of the whole thing. It's now no more than other shows like Geordie Shore, in particular, this time, TOWIE etc. Aren't there enough such shows around. We are allowed a few heavily edited and manipulated minutes out of 24 hours. They can manipulate this any way they choose according to their favourites or is it who's paid the biggest backhander? Or who they have another show lined up for as in IAC. Any celebrity Z list or otherwise can be in great danger of heaving their reputation ruined now. Just change the name please as Big Brother is dead and buried.

They were indeed very happy days when you look back compared to now.
