Yes, mine was a waste of money too. It needed a huge amount of fruit just to make one glass and then it took an age to clean afterwards.

Cruel!
I'm so traumatised I Emailed the BBC about one programme where they used a mandoline with bare fingers and they acknowledged that I had a point and would ensure that "it wouldn't happen again".

I bought one for my daughter for Christmas and she uses it daily.
It's not a "blender blade" type but a rotating "coolie hat" shaped disc with a powerful motor.
She makes all sorts of weird concoctions.
I love the full glass of carrot juice that I get from 3 or 4 carrots - it's delicious.
The test is in how dry the vegetable and fruit remains are.
If they're quite moist then the juicer's not effective.

It does make a noise like a helicopter taking off but it only takes seconds to blitz the contents.

Do not throw out your un-used kitchen gadgets. Take them to your local charity shop, please.

Set the machine and go off Digtal Spy.

Done in 20 mins or so.”

Soup makers are really pointless. If you do the veg etc on the hob, all you then need is a stick blender to purée it. The stick blender can also be used for lots of other things, whereas as a soup maker cannot.

Is this a Vitamix type machine - I would not be without mine as it blends everything in the fruit - pips and stalks so you get a whole fruit drink.
(it will also grind up a whole chicken carcass, if you wanted it to)

My OH bought a Remoska from Lakeland and uses it quite a lot but I think he made a mistake buying the biggest one as I find it difficult to make meals for 2 in it.

I suppose apart from the usual suspects of knives, oven, hob, microwave the gadget that I love that many won't have is my dual deep fat fryer.

One side filled with oil and the other with dripping.

Mine is a nutribullet machine. I don't like the texture of many fruits, so this is perfect for me. I've replaced eating biscuits, crisps etc with green smoothies made up of spinach, banana, avocado, and whatever else with seeds and nuts.

I always buy New Covent Garden soup whenever half price, so a soup maker sounds like something I must look into. I do t have much patience in the kitchen so it sounds ideal for me

Stick blender. I use it more than either a regular blender or my hand mixer. Coffee grinder. We have two. One for coffee and one for nuts, chiles, and the occasional batch of breadcrumbs.

I don't know what a nutribullet is but most of my daughters juice drinks are various shades of green.

Certainly can

I find the garlic press rather messy so the paste is a must - especially as I don't usually eat a whole bulb of garlic before it goes off.

I've got a lot of gadgets but mostly they are barely used:
Slow cooker - the recipes require a much shorter time than I'm out at work
Bread maker - again the time required doesnt wor k for me
Rice cooker - the one I had didn't cook a single portion properly
George Forman grill - too much faff to clean
Toasted sandwich maker - ditto
Liquidiser & food processor - again I usually find for my needs its easier to do the work by hand.

I do like my ice-cream maker - just a shame its rarely hot enough for me to want ice cream

It is a convenience all-in-one programmed machine that you don't have to stand over. Yes it seemed a waste of money when I opened the box. But it sits on the kitchen counter and I can make a soup with little effort while carrying on work or wasting time.

Just making a Broccoli soup.

Chopped Broccoli
one small chorizo
one chopped onion
small piece of chopped ginger
2 small chillies
one stock cube in hot water

- in the soup maker
- back wasting time on Digital Spy.

I agree

I come in from the gym, stick a pile of veg n herbs n stuff in my soup maker then go for a bath, and piping hot soup is ready for me when I get out

A microplane grater is handy. Mine is not the real microplane but more like a fine cheese grater size but it's good for parmesan, garlic, and ginger.

I make a lot of cakes and for this reason I bought my Kenwood kMix stand mixer. I couldn't do without it. Well, I suppose I could if I really had to but it gets used every time. It's especially useful to make buttercream, the texture becomes absolutely gorgeous like ice cream. And doing whipped cream with it is a doodle. I could never go back to the days of hand mixing. Even using my handheld whisk is a chore in comparison.

Just put it on the lowest setting - it will be fine.
Bread maker - again the time required doesnt wor k for me
Mine has a timer so I set it to run overnight and wake up to the smell of fresh baked bread.

Rice cooker - the one I had didn't cook a single portion properly
George Forman grill - too much faff to clean
Mine is non-stick - just wipe it with kitchen paper
Toasted sandwich maker - ditto
See above
Liquidiser & food processor - again I usually find for my needs its easier to do the work by hand.

Hope this helps

How long are you talking about, Shrike?
Left on low most meals can merrily cook for a very long time.

Knife Sharpner

I liked my AnySharp very much but the suction went.

When I was browsing for another I spotted a Wusthof one for £15 and it's been great so far. It a handheld pull through 2 stage.
