I am umming and ahhing but am currently going for Robert Holmes, Steven Moffatt and Delia Derbyshire. (The Doctors and Companions are covered elsewhere of course.)

When voting on the stories are people giving a lot of tens? My provisional estimate is that I am awarding about a dozen. I am not sure if this is generous or mean.

And lastly....

What policy are people adopting on episodes they half remember but haven't actually seen since first broadcast? I am pretty sure I enjoyed the Seeds of Doom when I was six or seven but havent seen it since then (bad fan).

Delia Derbyshire is a choice I would get behind because she never got the official recognition she deserved as co-writer (at the very least) of the Doctor Who theme music.

I wasn't aware they were running this poll. Seems a bit silly. I understand the episodes one but picking three who are most significant? Bound to be divisive. I would struggle to narrow it down to 30.

I haven't seen it but I would assume it's supposed to be a way to honour somebody who wouldn't otherwise be in an applicable category (such as the fore-mentioned Delia Derbyshire) rather than just 'most important people'? If is the latter, I agree, ridiculous concept.

Well you get to vote for favourite Doctor, favourite companion and the third one is the Special Contribution Award which is defined in the way I indicated in the original post- which I didn't find terribly helpful.

I have to say I think the funniest thing about the poll is that it is still being done on a bit of paper sent via the post. I do hope they transcribe my numbers accurately. Perhaps this is what has been supporting the inflated price of Royal Mail shares. Ha.

Agree. An 'unsung hero' award would be great. And basically Delia D would and should win. But the way I read the original post was it is anyone you think has made a special contribution to the show. Where do you start? I should probably check it out. I only pick up DWM on a month to month basis having cancelled my sub.

Agree- it's iconic. There have been some horrible versions of it though, including something that sounds Australian. I think it was one of the Pertwee ones.

Some of the opening credits are very creepy, probably because Davison's the only Doctor who's face doesn't look terrifying when it looms at you. I know that as a child I wouldn't have been able to get past that Colin Baker opening!
