This comment struck a chord for me, I was screaming at the tv. "Because even though you don't get on with people you can still be civil!" To me that's what adults do, don't we all have to rub along with people at work or socially who we might not get along with? I know I have!!! I seriously think Jim has been trying to do that despite there clearly being bad blood between them.

I had an open mind on Jim and Linda when they went in but I have been truly appalled by Linda's attitude to Jim. The big brother house is a mix of varied people and surely by going in you accept that there may be people you don't personally get along with but for the sake of harmony for everyone you just behave like a decent human being? I don't call that being fake, fake is telling everyone you love them, friends for life and all that other rubbish some of the others keep spouting!!

Of course we all have to remember our opinions can only be based on the short time we see so there is editing to allow for...

Louisa refusing to cook for Jim was another example of being childish, it wasn't her food or her house and living communally you have to do things for people you don't like!

One other thing, who would admit to theft to 'protect their family'? I don't buy that for a minute, but I wouldn't have judged her on her husbands behaviour either.”

Absolutely & well put and FAIR analysis throughout. Thank you.

What is shocking is how most people say, "I judge that person by how they are in the house, not how they are or were out of it, " yet with regards to Jim, what he has done or said int he past is always brought up on here, it's laughable

a different take on all this:

due to the fact that people like jim and linda are but very very obscure references to me (i am brazilian and from brazil) I've been enjoying the show for what it's been shown (no back stories, no knowledge of these people outside the house)... I must say that

Jim is showing himself as a patronising, hollier-than-thou, arse who needles the women but then goes on like "oh, i am so superior to you, you can argue by yourself"..... From what i saw in the highlights (and exclusively in the highlights) Jim throws some very hurtful lines out, but then escapes when people react to them.

It was a low blow telling luisa (the most gossiping housemate) a "message" to send to linda involving her late husband's name. It sounded like a veiled threat. .... I certainly don't have any admiration for such a coward like Jim.....Even Lionel was more of a man, when Mr. Blair faced Luisa.

(then again, remember, I don't have all the media around these celebs as you lot do)

Agree and disagree. It WAS a low blow, but he gave what I would term a full and frank apology. It's not easy to apologise to someone who doesn't like you, and he deserves credit for that.

You are right you don't. There is history on both sides and both of them are not nice people at all, but I have to say Linda's behaviour and ganging up with the others has done her no favours.

If you would of said I would feel sorry for Jim before he went in, I would of laughed my head off, but I have surprised myself as I do.

Maybe Linda was waiting for him to bring it up, maybe all the goading was just for that response from Jim. She didn't need to respond the way she did, neither does she need to stay in a house with someone she hates so much. She could leave. Is the money that important?

Would seem so, she blames her husband's and mother's deaths for her lack of finances, she couldn't face going on tour without her tour manager husband which left her in financial ruin.
And seeing as her husband saw fit to pilfer a performer's pocket they must have hard up then, what happened to all the money she earning.
After all it was just Linda and her husband, she has admitted she put her career before having any children. I think the money is a huge issue she can't afford to walk.

Reading through the posts some people seem to have not looked at what is freely available on the internet

"Secret cameras were installed and they caught Linda’s husband red-handed. It was highly embarrassing for Linda. He never explained why he had done it.’

I think it's important that that information was brought out into the open. Everyone, including the housemates, have been wondering why Linda is so bitter towards Jim. Well, now we know. She holds a grudge for an argument which happened over 20 years ago. This argument was apparently regarding an incident in which her husband was caught stealing from a friend of Jim's. Linda told him on night one that's why she still holds a grudge.

Jim has acted with great dignity throughout all of these attacks and that's why he's so popular with the public.

She doesn't seem depressed to me; just very, very bitter. They are all assessed by pyschologists or psychiatrists before they go into the house and I think if she was depressed she wouldn't have been there.

I honestly think, Linda is not only bitter against Jim, she is bitter against the world.

I think she has had some help off BB because her demean our had drastically changed last night

No, that's you speculating. You don't know what others are thinking.

I WAS sympathetic to Jim until he denied not once but a few times.. bringing up the subject of Frank Carson's dressing room. I remember him walking through the kitchen saying just wait it will all kick off now or words to that effect..he knew what he was doing he knew what he was saying. I had a negative opinion of him after Hells Kitchen or whatever show he was in He showed his true colours then but I did change my opinion when he admitted all the drug taking etc. Linda is no angel but did not deserve the re hash of her dead husband's misdemeanors
Jim is a hypocrite and I for one think he needs to go

If she hadn't goaded him so much, I doubt anything would have been said. She knew Jim knew all about it and if I had been in that situation, I would have been careful to keep Jim onside in case he told everyone. He shouldn't have said it - I think most people agree that it was a low blow but she has kept on and on about what a nasty person Jim was and in the end he blew. How many of us would have not said something similar in anger? He apologised twice - the first time Linda wasn't even gracious enough to accept the apology so he said sorry again later which he didn't have to do as he was risking her being nasty all over again. I just wish she would chill out and start to enjoy the experience - either that or just walk out.

They are obviously not assessed much at all: we all know of housemates with clear emotional problems who have broken down in the house. Shahbaz said he had had psychiatric problems for his entire life, but just by telling them that he hadn't, he was accepted. I am not sure what you think an assessment of Linda would have involved: she seemed relaxed and charming for the first couple of days.

I don't know why people keep saying "she's not depressed, she's just bitter" - at least I do know, it is because it sounds nastier - as if bitterness is not a common symptom of depression. I am not implying that she is a mental wreck, one step away from being sectioned; I am saying that she seems depressed to me, and as if she has had a shadow hanging over her life for a long time. It doesn't mean she is incapable of smiling or laughing.

It was unkind of BB to put those two in together. Either of them might have had a much more cheerful experience without the other, and BB MUST have known that. In effect they have sacrificed two people known to have a recent history of personal problems in the hope that it might be funny to the viewers.

If Jim had said to Luisa "ask Linda about the club she had me kicked out of" Linda would have given the same response because it relates to her dead husband stealing, yet Coleen was quite smug on BBBOTS when telling us that was the reason Linda disliked him.

The Nolan's just sap up sympathy

I am appalled at this.. where did the Nolan hate come from?
They have battled cancer and numerous other problems A sister died recently for Gods sake Where has live and let live gone ? I am not a big Nolan fan but to be fair I do not think they deserve this vitriol you should all be ashamed of yourselves if you cannot say anything good about someone or something do not speak

I'm afraid that every so often - not every series, but sometimes - this forum just does seem to turn into a massive hatefest. I find it very draining and depressing.

Obviously every series has its heroes and villains, but there is normally some debate, some balance, not just endless abuse. People with no sense of irony use the most disgustingly abusive terms to describe Linda because they think she is not being a nice person.

I find it particularly bad this time because Linda seems to me emotionally fragile, and to have no idea how much hate has been stoked against her. I do blame BB: they should never have put her in the house with Jim in the hope that it would be funny: it has not been funny at all, just miserable; he will be all right because he is adored, but she won't be. And the edit has been really bad for her: they have never, ever shown her having ordinary, friendly times with people who like her; I genuinely think people on the staff are at one with people on here in wanting to see her demonised and Jim getting lovely positive attention. We have Sam saying she feels protective of Linda because Jim is always picking on her - and nothing whatsoever that shows that has ever been shown, just the other way round. I'm sure people will be queueing up to say that Sam is just 'part of Linda's coven' and just lying to make Jim look bad, but why in the world would she? It is surely overwhelmingly likely that if Sam thinks Jim has been picking on Linda, some form of picking on has happened; it just hasn't been shown, because Linda's selected 'story' is 'always picking on Jim; and Jim's selected 'story' is 'kindly Jim, always helping others'.

Well, primarily the "hate" has all derived from the Nolan's. Colleen last year and now Linda have proven time and time again that they are bitter and plain nasty women. This forum is just responding to that. Sad but very very true.
