LG TV forgetting wifi password
Anyone know how to save my wifi password? At the moment if I'm connected and then turn the tv off and back on I then have to put the password in again? Shouldn't it just search and connect automatically like a laptop would? Very annoying especially when your using the standard tv remote to enter the password.
Thanks |

When you connected for the first time did it prompt to enter the security password? And did you save it? That is what I did on my TV (don't we both have LN575Vs?) Never have to enter the password when it connects to my router.
Have you tried going into Settings - Network - Network Connection then OK on Start Connection wait until it gets to the Connected screen then select Other Network. Select your network from the list and press OK on the remote. This lets you enter the password. Then press the red button to OK the password and see if that remembers it. |

Yes that's me mate.
On the network screen there is no "other network" just a list of wifi access points and two options on the right "manual setup" and "refresh list". So I find my router on the list, click on it then it asks for my routers password( like any device would) put this in then I pressed the red button like you said, then it went to another screen and I just clicked ok there, then it was connected. Turned the tv off and back on, watched the little network bubble at the top of the screen for a minute and it didn't offer to connect automatically. So I went into the network settings again and it just wants me to start from scratch I.e enter the router password AGAIN. Grrrrrr! To be fair I'm not using the smart features much, just annoying that whenever I do I have to re enter the router password. Strange that you mention a security password. What's that for then? The only passwords I've entered is my routers password. Maybe I'm missing a stage out somewhere and that's why it's not saving. There is a manual setup thing but there's lots of different options that I don't understand so I didn't touch that |

There is a manual setup thing but there's lots of different options that I don't understand so I didn't touch that If you turn it off and back on again and before you try entering the WiFi details again go into Settings - Network - Network Status. After a few seconds if it's connecting properly it should display the IP Address etc assigned by your router. If that screen does not show anything then there is something odd going on. It might be a pain in the neck if you've tweaked the settings a lot but it might be worth doing a Factory Reset on it. That will take it back to "out of the box" condition so will go through all the set up stages it did the very first time you turned it on. But if there is some weirdness going on with the settings memory it might just correct it and let the telly work OK. |

When i said network bubble i meant when you press the smart button to go to the smart screen, the circular bit at the top showing if your connected or not, i was watching this thinking it should automatically connect, so i was watching this for a minute to see if anything happened, but it didnt.
Will keep having a play with it, as i said im not really fussed to be honest, as long as it connects which it does. Thanks for the replies anyway |

change SSID
Try to change the SSID of your AP. Removed uppercase and special characters from the SSID name.
eg: DD-WRT to ddwrt |

eg: DD-WRT to ddwrt I dout you'll see this (as it looks like you only registered to answer this thread) but thanks very much, it works and connects automatically now by just changing the SSID to all lowercase and no special characters i.e Red Apple's would become red apples. Took 16months but it's now working, just thought I'd reply in case anyone else is having the same problem. And quick tip here, don't just change the SSID on the TV, make sure you change the SSID on your router to lowercase FIRST and then after you can enter the new lowercase SSID onto the TV, job done! ![]() PS Chris, you failed to inform me your SSID was all lowercase!? I dunno eh!!? Only kidding, you wasn't to know that was the issue, just nice to have it sorted, although I don't connect it that often hence why it's taken so long for me to search out the answer! |

My SSID is a mix of upper case and lower case with a space. Mind you with the telly and router sat next to each other I use that old fashioned thing called a CAT5 ethernet cable to connect the two. ![]() I did use WiFi for a while but never had it forget any details. It did sometimes fail to connect automatically when turning the telly on but always connected when given a gentle prod. But with a bit of wire now doing the job don't even get that anymore. |
