Orange to 4GEE
I am almost 11 months into a 24 month contract with Orange. I'm considering upgrading to EE for 4G. I was told to call them but I'm deaf and very ill at the moment so can't leave the house.
Anyone done similar? What was the process? Did it cost anything? Any help appreciated. |

The standard procedure depends on whether you have a 4G ready handset or not.
If you have a 4G phone you can swap to an EE contract free of charge as long as you sign up to a 4GEE/EXTRA tariff at the same/higher cost and for a minimum of 15 months. If you don't have a 4G phone then you'll need to pay off your current contract (with a 33% discount) and sign up for another 24m contract with EE for a new 4G ready phone on one of their 4GEE/EXTRA tariffs. You may be offered something different or better. But this is the current standard practice. |

Then you can upgrade to a 4GEE tariff for free as long as it's of the same cost or higher. EE will most likely tie you in for another 15 months minimum though with that same phone and new tariff.
Unfortunately the only way to get this is to call 150 from your phone and select the upgrade option. If you're unable to do this then maybe you can try the live chat option on the EE website and see if they can help? |

It's sorted now. My dad called for me. 18 month tariff for 3GB data, unlimited texts, unlimited calls (handy for when I need calls made for me which is often) plus something else but I've forgotten what.

Are you sure you wanted to commit for that long? |

Only thing i'd say is that you're now on a 28 month contract...

No it ends in 18 months I checked.
So 10+18 = 28 months contract with the same phone. |

I get that. But you've already had 10 months in contract with that phone right.
So 10+18 = 28 months contract with the same phone. Edit: bought my iPhone 2/3 months ago on amazon and I'm happy with it. |

Oh yeah it's cool as I'd have either upgraded or got another contract anyway.

It may sound silly but have you thought to add your father as a third party to the account? I know ringing customer services isn't the most accessible for folk like yourself however EE do have a page with some advice how to reach them
http://explore.ee.co.uk/digital-living/digital-for-all Sorry if you think I am being pertinent, honestly I don't mean to be, being in a similar situation myself I know accessing services such as this can be challenging. |
