I think it's because Lee said Casey said this while they were going down the stairs.

As both thier mics were on at the time, it would have been heard, surely?

I thought it was about Casey saying to someone about the cameras being on her that the production team corrected Lionel on.

Why else would he apologize the way he did - it was almost like he had been told to apologize!!

Lee actually said that Casey had said this to him on the stairs when they were evicted.

Lee accused Casey of saying he "Should have played along" with their relationship for the cameras.

I thought he said she'd said it on the way up the stairs on their fake eviction night. That was all filmed live and is available to be watched online.

I've no real view on their silly love feud (other than to say they're both milking it, IMO), and I didn't watch the show last night, but, assuming the producers did confirm Casey's story (and there seems to be some debate about this), it begs the question as to why they did this. How often, in the past, have we been dying to know if one HM or the other was lying, or if something actually happened that someone claimed did - only to be left hanging on because the producers didn't feel the need to enlighten us? Yet, in this instance (assuming the OP's correct), they decided to step in and clarify something, and not even in the show but outside of it.

It leads to a suspicion (as it were needed) that BB are pushing a particular narrative here.

At the beginning of BOTS they were talking about Lionel saying he had heard Casey saying to another housemate to basically keep doing what she was doing (Louisa I think), and they said we will hear more from Lionel on that a bit later on.

Then later on, Lionel said I have been told by the production team that I was wrong and Casey didn't say what I thought she said so I apologize (words to that effect).

So I presumed the production staff told him casey didn't say that to Lousia - nothing to do with Lee saying what he did about Casey looking for airtime.

Hope all that makes sense - and have I got it all wrong?

He made a public apology about believing Lee, as he was told Lee lied.

I felt exactly the same at the time. It just felt wierd, almost as if Lionel had had a telling off LOL

I don't believe Veri said anything of the sort. Please link to their post.

I posted the Demand 5 video of the whole of the Fake Eviction show that proved that Casey did not say anything like that to Lee while they were on mic or camera.

Having said that, I think the OP is only referring to what Lionel said on BOTS? Might be wrong?

Because he said it happened when they were being evicted and going up the stairs. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Really? Maybe I've misunderstood or it was another poster? Sorry, if so!

I knew Casey never said anything, I watched it back too!

Yes, he did say it was when they were going up the stairs. He chose a very pivotal time to make the accusation. As if to stress that not only was she a nasty piece for saying it at all, but also a case of sour grapes and blaming him for their upcoming eviction. Innocent Lee and Scheming Casey revealing her dastardly plan at the 11th hour. Dun, dun, duuuun !

Lee needs to get a grip on the voices in his head.

You're probably thinking about this post from the 'If Casey did say that...' thread?

Where Veri says they heard it, on their recording, that Lee told Louisa that Casey had said "Why couldn't you have just played along", as they were coming down the steps.

But that was before the whole video was posted, that showed she didn't say that coming down the steps.

There is NO footage of them walking to the bolthole.

I thought she said something along those lines going UP the stairs, my sister thinks she said it on the sofa either when their names were announced or when they got up to leave, I am convinced she said it, but I assumed she meant in a "well if you didn't want the boos"!!! kind of thing. Lionel, was he not talking about something that was said earlier on Friday nights show.

Possibly because when one realises that they have implied someone is corrupt and has lied or cheated based on hearsay and then get more information which means there is a reasonable doubt it is normal to offer an apology to the person whose reputation is besmirched.

No.
I've looked at the footage a number of time, and she didn't say anything like that, while she was on camera or mic.

Well No, and their microphones were switched off as they were taken backstage and through the camera runs etc. So the only people who know whether she said that, are the production people who led them to the Bolthole.

And are these the same production people who told Lionel that she didn't say it?

Yeah to be honest I think he might of actually had a point with Casey, I'm now seeing her as quite fake and think she is playing at been upset about all that Jasmin and Lee malarkey.

Production talking to housemates about what happened is WRONG!

their microphones would never have been "off."

there'd be no reason to stop them and take off or turn off their microphone, and then re-mike/turn them back on before they walk into the bolthole door 2 minutes later.

their mikes would have been on the entire time.
