Josie may well have still won, however many viewers were fans of both Josie and John James. If he'd been in the final their vote would have been split.

I couldn't agree more CranberryA..I was gutted. I wasn't particularly fond of that particual year as I loathed thumb sucking false madam Josie Gibson and that muppett John James. God the pair of them made me ill. Then to have that stunt pulled by the producers..was just disgraceful.Never understood why they wanted Josie Gibson to win. I stopped watching for the next 2 years and only started watching regualar BB last year.

The four-way eviction was so staged to give the dreadful Josie a clear run to the title that I skipped BB for 18 months afterwards. I also detested seeing the awful monk creature come 2nd.

I agree and I also think that if Josie had not been given the free pass to the final and all the HM's were up in the four way that she could have been evicted.

She would have attracted a lot more negative votes than Steve and her fan base would have had a very hard job trying to save her.

I remember at the time a lot of people saying they were not bothering to vote in the final as it was a farce.

If Josie had not been selected for the free pass to the final then the quad eviction might have taken her out.

Do you remember that the actual voting details that it was going to be a four way was not told to the public until after Josie did win the free pass.

In fact it was at least a day or two days later I cannot remember now.

I could be remembering it wrong but I do think they announced it would be a quadruple eviction before the phone lines opened.

What caused the uproar was that although Davina announced that it would be a quadruple eviction on the Friday straight after Josie got the free pass, the phone lines didn't open until something like the following Tuesday with no explanation as to why. Everyone presumed it would be a VTS so then when it was revealed to be a VTE people were pissed off and the unusual delay in opening the phone lines just proved that the producers were stalling until they decided what to do.

Or maybe I just dreamt all of that??

I would have loved Sam or Corin to win.

Josie and Denise are my two worst winners.

nope it was almost certainly the next day via facebook/the website.
then the uproar started

thing is channel 4 did vote to save one or twice didnt they? the one i remember is when Hira went, so they knew how it worked.
they clearly wanted a fixed result for the bb11 final for some bizarre reason. and all this voting chopping and changing just makes people moan more! which is why im slightly peeved at channel 5 deciding it was a good idea to bring back VTE for last years BB, then deciding again maybe it wasnt a good idea so bringing back VTS for CBB. common sense has to prevail at some point

I think everyone is in agreement that it was one of, if not the worst decision ever in BB. Josie, John James, Corin and Sam Pepper as the final four (which would have almost definitely happened) would have been a brilliant finale. I do believe Josie would have won anyway, but there would have been a feeling of some competition for the crown. Once those three left, it was clearer than ever it was Josie's. Andrew and JJ had no right to be in that final imo.

BB, Davina and Emma didn't even attempt to hide their bias for Josie and John James. Davina and Emma were like kids in a sweet shop when they were mentioned and kept shutting anyone down that dared to say anything negative about them. And the highlight shows were no better. BB11 became the John James and Josie show. The highlights were dedicated to them and when John James threatened to leave, BB did whatever they could to keep him in. During the quadruple eviction week, when he was really nasty to Rachael and then asked to leave after finding out that she was seeing Nathan, BB even went as far as organising a phone call between the two of them to stop him from walking.

I have developed PTSD from that horrific night. Two HMs (Corin and Sam) that could have prevented a Josie win gone, just like that.

I said I was never going to watch again if the show came back .

I did not watch the one that Aaron was in,not even two seconds of the show.

I did not watch the one that Paddy won either.

What I did not realise was Josie was even worse out of the house.

Absolute horror and some of her twitter supporters were like rabid animals.

Craziness on a grand scale.

I don't know what she is up to now and I don't want to know.

But what a farce it was at the time!

I used this as evidence that the production is no more useless than it was back then!

4 of the series biggest characters and contenders to win, wiped out in one foul swoop.
Leaving only what can be described as 'deadwood' to compete for the winners title against the only possible winner, Josie.

Now what I find reassuring, is this could possibly never happen again thanks to channel 5 introducing positive voting.

But in hindsight, why do you think they decided to do that to the final of what was at the time, the last civilian big brother finale ever!

Whenever I doubt the shows future on channel 5, I just reassure myself by looking back at the incompetence of BB11!”

BB11 was one of my favorite series. I didn't mind the quadruple eviction too much. I remember being really excited at the time! And it least it got Sam Peppers out. Having said that, I will admit the amount of HM's that series was ridiculous. They had 4 HM's leave because they quit/injury, so it's fair enough that they had to bring in new HM's, but they brought in 7 freaking new HM'S! It was too much and it resulted in the mess at the end where they had 9 HM's with a week left of the series.

On a side note, I miss series like this where there was actual 'real' people in the house . The show's a little too much like BBUS now. Too many bland, bitchy HM's being hired for their looks and too much manipulation and contrived nominations. It's going against the social experiment the show was made to be. Remember before BB14 they said they'd be going back to putting real people in the house? Did they scrap that or something?

Likewise!

I'm sorry now I didn't watch the Aaron one, as it sounded a lot more fun than the series I started to watch again with the Connor Deana debacle that series wound me up so much!
I might watch the Aaron one online when this finishes if I can find a link!
But Josie and the blatant bias and the fans put me off for a long time!

It was never going to be a vote to save the week before the final.

Otherwise they would just have gone straight to a vote to win.

I think most people were expecting a double eviction but that would have left 7 in the final.

The housemate numbers were too high because they were trying to conceal from the housemates for as long as possible the fact that the series would end 2 or 3 weeks early to make way for UBB.

UBB really messed up the schedule and gave us a very low key final to BB11.

They could've do what they did in BB9, and had an extended vote to win, with two (in this case four) HM's leaving in the days before the finale.
