OF course they have stirred things up. How much footage have we seen of Linda having ordinary, friendly conversations with the other housemates? Why do they obviously have a joke about her being 'mummy Nolan'? Why did Lionel single her out as being the one who never moans and complains, even when everyone else is? It is as if she is invisible and inaudible to the producers until the moment when she mentions Jim, when she is suddenly lit up in a blaze of light. I don't know if they ever ask her about anyone but Jim in the diary room, but if they do it is obviously only to fill stop her thinking this is getting odd; they never use that part of the conversation.
I think it is genuinely dehumanizing to edit someone so that they only exist in relation to another person. Casey has had some of the same: they obviously just can't be bothered with showing us anything of what she is like unless the topic of Lee comes up.
