Linda the Swinger and Coleen Nolan on Sky News have both been mysteriously locked.
Anyone know why?

Contact the mods. They closed them.

The person closing them is probably a Nolan there are a lot of them

The Plight of Jim Davidson has also been locked for an unknown reason.

Is this unexplained thread locking a usual feature of Digital Spy on a Sunday afternoon?

probably locked 12 hours too late from some of the content, I wouldn't be surprised if the threads disappear as well

Maybe Sunday afternoon mods are more strict and stern than the weekday ones?

They are probably locked so that the Fighting Nolans don't sue, or even worse, they might attack the mods for allowing untoward posts about them.

That's a shame on the "plight" thread. It was interesting.

I'd hazard a guess that it's because some posters overstep the mark by a long way in their negative comments re some BB House Mates. We all have our likes and dislikes and we all sound off but there are quite a few (IMO) who overstep the bounds of common decency. I can't believe some of the stuff I've read - most of it is irrelevant to what goes on in the house and is just spurious speculation and made up stuff.

The T&C's below might explain better. It may not be that but it is my feeling about it.

It's no wonder the threads have been locked with some of the things that have been said about suicide I just hope some of the contributors to the thread don't have to go through it

TBH I didn't used mind the Nolans didn't give them much thought. Wasn't keen on Coleen when she was on BB and thought Linda was horrendous on BOTS to Julie Goodyear's husband.
But these feuds towards people are just beyond, surely all this is going to damage their showbiz careers?
Colleen should certainly lay off Twitter and definitely shouldn't do BBOTS this evening it really is making a bad situation worse.

As well as the bullying comments, apparently only the weak,smaller person is ever a victim. It beggared belief

Exactly. I'm not easily shocked but my jaw has nearly hit the floor at some of the nastiest,imo libelious comments I have ever seen on DS.

Mine too. I read one last night that stunned me, obviously I can't repeat it but it was pure unadulterated libel. (unless the poster had evidence for what s/he insinuated - which I doubt.)

I can think of a thread title which actually states that a Celeb performed a sex act on himself! That's still up and running

Maybe too many alerts about individual posts on a thread and that thread gets locked down, I know that's the way it used to work on another forum.

Probably nobody has reported it. I agree that a thread with that sort of title is deeply unpleasant and unnecessary. It may be defamatory who knows.

However it is most certainly defamatory to allege someone did something, or took part in something that is illegal. (Unless of course you have evidence to that effect of course and then you take it to the police or a civil law firm not an internet forum.)

The posts that have left me open mouthed are those that insinuate or state that one or other HM has done something which is in fact unlawful. That is a clear defamation. (Except in a few circumstances that don't apply here.)

I think you are right about individual posts. It only needs one post that is grossly defamatory to cause the thread to be closed/removed. As it happens rude, nasty and spiteful posts while not an offence in the legal sense are against the T's and C's - so to say XX housemate is a ugly, vile bitch is against the forum rules but generally go unchallenged.

Exactly she is just adding fuel to the fire.

I don't like the fact that her supporters are relying on Jim to crack for Linda to become more popular.....Linda might gain some support if she changed her behaviour, If Jim is nice to her then accept he's being nice, rather than thinking he has a motive all the time.
