I'd put Kyran and Ray equal. I thought Kyran's routine was better than Ray but that may just be my personal preference. Zara should have been higher than they gave her

Sorry I disagree about Kyran. He is a strong skater but he just skates round the ice and lifts Nina a lot. For once I agree with Jason. Not Kyran's fault as he does what he is given. However did Chris hint he was given the routine to show his strengths? Perhaps that is all he can do. They need to give him some dance moves to prove if he can do more. Ray really dances on ice.

They get what they are given. That may be because there's a simple view taken of everyone's ability, or because they want to give someone else that week the couple of good routines, or because they use different people to bring different things to the show. As someone pointed out, the person who gets the ballad has an immediate advantage with a story to tell. Kyran got a big lift, but no story or dance - which leaves Jason lttle to give marks for. Suzanne got some big advanced tricks, but no story, or anything to act. Hayley needed a boost, and got a strong dance number to act, with not much difficulty in it. Ray had to do well to get near Suzanne's previous mark, and he got a dance number with not much else in it in the way of lifts or tricks. Beth and Hayley got the week's good music for skating to, a story to act out, and Beth got a a new lift- which all put her into contention again.

Its pretty clear that, by design or default, there's a few good routines created for each week. They get the story to be enacted, dance moves to go with them, and even special outfits like Hayley's to fit the story. The rest of the contestants get standard outfits, often strange music, and not much content. if they are more capable and are lucky, or unlucky, they get a big trick - even if its more difficult than anything in that week's top numbers.

That all works OK in n ordinary series - because there's only a very few people who can do a top routine, or tricks. It doesn't work when you have an allstars series. What they do ends up not telling much. with marks dependant on who got what. We don't know if Ray could do Suzanne's big trick, as well, or better. Or if he could do Kyran's big lift. We do know, from what they have done before, that Bonnie or Suzanne can dance Hayley's routine, and might have done Beth's. We don't know if Zaraah could do either, or if anyone else could do Suzanne's at all. We have no idea what Kyran would do with Ray's routine - just distant memories that he could dance in series 2. We just know you need the right routine to get top marks, and only a few people get such routines each week.

Kyran does the body popping (is that the right term?) more than dance

I couldn't have put it better. They like to keep it unpredictable so they manipulate things to achieve this result. It was so obvious last night some awful music choices, and dull routines while Beth
and Hayley got a chance to shine. Glad Todd went last night but putting him out on his own made him look as weak as possible.

Excellent assessment - agree with every point made.

I actually think that Bonnie would have made a much better job of Hayley's routine; it could have been choreographed especially for her.

I liked Hayley in her series - she was my favourite and I still think there are technical moves where she shines but in truth, in the company of so much talent, I think her limitations are showing.
