Jason's giving a 4.5 mark to Gareth
What did we think of Jason giving 4.5 mark to Gareth for his routine?
The mark seemed harsh if not unfair for what was not a bad routine. All the three other judges said it was better than his first routine and gave him a higher mark so Jason's score looked very odd. Was it just Jason playing up to his nasty judge role in the show and to give him the attention he craves.Maybe it was a plan to help Gareth to gain sympathy votes and keep him in the show. Gareth and Jason know each other very well having worked together so maybe it was his way of helping Gareth. If so it worked! Now that Todd has gone what will Jason do next week to keep his pantomime villain role? |

I would have given him far less as he is a wooden plank that never bends. He will never be able to dance.

That's the thing he isn't a dancer unlike others on the show. He has to learn to dance and skate unlike s few who are trained in dance.
I think he done well and the score from Jason was harsh. Yes we all know he isn't the best on the show but for me he is more likeable than a few on there. Not sure what Jason plays at sometimes, I mean he was generous to Joe the first week. He has his favourites and it shows in his scores |

![]() I'm sure Jason does think Gareth needs to up his game, but I wouldn't be surprised if he gave the harsh mark knowing he'd still score above Todd, but hoping it would draw the sympathy/reaction vote away from Todd's inevitable bottom of the leader-board, in the hope of ditching Todd. |

It was not mentioned but Gareth was not well during the show and required medical attention. He suffers from bad migraine attacks and apparently may not have been able to do the skate off if he was in the bottom two.
Gareth missed filming for the Big Reunion today as he is still unwell. |

I love Gareth but sadly he is the weaker of the skaters left now.
Having said that I thought Jasons mark was much too low. And to put him below Todd the week before was ridiculous. ![]() Sometimes it's hard to fathom Jason and his weird marking system!

How many people saying Gareth is weak can skate or actually understand it?
Having given higher marks to a number of others who did less, Bonnie and Hayley among them, 4.5 was our of order. |

Skating wise, Gareth was definitely stronger than Bonnie and Hayley. I know there's more to it than actual skating, but I didn't much like how they performed either. I'm not in the "I hate Bonnie/Hayley" club that a lot on here are on, but Bonnie's had absolutely no sexiness, and Hayley's had no acting, just switching between a scary clown grin and a doll like shocked face.
They both have a dance background, so there were good dance touches, but I really don't think they were any better. Even allowing for personal preferences, I would judge them as on a similar level. I don't think you can reasonably single one out as weaker than the other two. |

Perhaps it's truer to say that Gareth is the weakest of the men left?
I certainly prefer watching him skate than I do some of the women. Even the best of the women left - are more about the lifts...than the actual skating on ice like Ray, Kyran and Sam etc I would agree that (IMHO) Gareth is better than Bonnie or Hayley. |

Jason thinks Gareth could be the next one to leave:
http://tellymix.co.uk/reality-tv/dan...eave-next.html Gareth has already had more votes than Bonnie and Sam, so could survive another week yet I think

Gareth tweeted to say his next routine is "different". I hope they aren't going to give him the novelty routines.

I cheered! 👏 know it's been twelve years but I cannot get over my dislike of him.
I remember how he was all sweetness and light to the nation on Pop Idol, like butter wouldn't melt, but horribly arrogant and cocky on the ITV2 spin off with Kate Thornton - and then you find out he's hanging around a heavily pregnant glamma model with somewhat of a reputation. From what I've seen of him since, the only thing he's interested in is how his hair looks (which is shit) Anyway, he deserved that mark - he was stumbling around all over the place and it was embarrassing. It's only his rabid fan base that's keeping him in. |

He skated well and definitely showed more ability to skate on the ice that some of the women for whom it's all about being lifted in the air. |

Maybe your dislike of him is colouring your judgement of his skating? Twelve years is a heck of a long time to dislike someone just from perceived opinions from a tv show...and shouldnt it all be about the skating.

But I don't deny I dislike him and it's not just from Pop Idol. I have always found him shallow and self obsessed. I remember an ITV "comeback" programme he did and I swear most of it was twiddling with his hair and looking at himself. He is also a proven liar - good as gold choirboy to the public, behind the scenes knocking off Jordan and then denied it - and there are very strong rumours and photographic evidence of him cheating on his wife and mother of his child. I just don't think he's a very nice person. |

You've disliked him from the moment he became famous, yet found yourself watching a documentary specifically about him. I'm sorry, but that's beyond embarrassing.
![]() Don't they have a library in your town? ![]() It's not that unusual though - look at all those Peter Andre and Katie Price haters who watch and read about them obsessively so they can get themselves all steamed up about them! To be honest, he's no more than a minor irritant these days - plus he'll be gone soon enough and then he will disappear off my radar for another few years. Anyway, personally I think it's beyond embarrassing to be a member of the GG rabid fanbase - but horses for courses and all that

Gareth may not be the best skater on the show, but he is one of the favourites and is holding his own in the competition and I prefer to watch him skate than some of the professionals. The week in question when he stumbled at the beginning of his performance it was obvious to me something was wrong, but nothing was said about Gareth being ill with a. Migraine. How he skated to such a high standard and did those lifts with a migraine was amazing as he was in bed shortly after the show and all the next day missing a days filming for the Big Reunion,
Gareth is very modest humble even and I could never imagine him coming across as arrogant, he was only 17 then and , we have all make mistakes when we are growing up, the only difference is his were made public, he is a man now. I find it hard to believe that someone can hold a grudge for all those years since Pop Idol. |

He was AWFUL this week. Cringeworthy. I don't believe he's one of the favourites. He's only staying in because of his rabid fanbase. He and Bonnie are the worst skaters of the bunch. My post was somewhat tongue in cheek but I bet you don't like Katie Price do you after what she did to poor, innocent, butter wouldn't melt little Gareth? |

For someone who doesn't like him you seem to know a lot about his life and fanbase? Who cares if people are keeping him in and voting. It is what the show is about, voting for your favourites. Just because you don't like it they are rabid?
He did well with what he was given. He got the short straw and we know the dancing is his weak point. But he is a good skater |

The reason Gareth was asked back was because he was a favourite and will get votes because he works hard at everything he does and gives it his best shot. He is obviously not going to win as he is pitted against professional skaters but he can be proud of every performance. He has done so far and he is a good skater or would not still be there. Gareth has no regrets re-Jordan it was all part of growing up, and we all know there is no fury like a woman scorned. |

You obviously bear a grudge against Gareth Gates for some reason, and seem very bitter.

I'm pretty confident he's a cheat. I'm sure the innocent choirboy was all an act. There are plenty of other people in Showbiz I don't like for lots of different reasons. It doesn't make me bitter, just irritated. You clearly like him - I've looked back through your posting history - and I don't. Why can't we just leave it at that? |
