I'm a shift worker, if my husband is off and I'm working then he does the ironing likewise I do the ironing when I'm off and he's working. Been married for 34 years and it's always been give and take.

I thought Luisa was a bit stiff when she said no she would not, nothing wrong with ironing for someone you love, after all they do things in return.

Some people here seem to have missed the point that Luisa made that she had no problem with women ironing their husband's shirts, but that it should not be expected or assumed of them.

Just thought it worth throwing in for the sake of balance and all that.

I always did the ironing when I was first married and the children came along but once I went back to my full time work my husband helped out a lot, he made a lot better job of ironing shirts and blouses than me well that's what I told him as I hated ironing.

I think it's a little more that yes or no. If I wanted to is my answer, not because I have to.

Ha ha, you've got to love that tactic.
I remember living in student halls ages ago and us all telling one of our housmates that he should do the washing up (we all hated it and instead would do vacuuming etc) as he was the 'best at it'. He nodded sagely, agreed he was the superior dishwasher as he looked down his nose as us 'useless' washer uppers and did it every time!

Sorted.

Not at all, Mr M is perfectly capable of ironing himself.

I did all the ironing at home from the age of 15. But factuality many women will do the ironing because they have made the choice to be homemakers, which is a perfectly valid life choice. And many will prefer that if their partner (male of female) earns enough to allow it.

My OH and sons mean well and have tried to iron themselves but they start moaning when they can't get a crease out of a shirt so i'm always having to take over to stop their moaning. I do tell my OH that he is better at cooking beef though so I make sure we have a beef roast every other Sunday.

No I don't iron anything if I can help it - especially sheets. My husband irons his shirt before work every morning and if I need something doing I sneak it onto the ironing board and he'll do it for me.

I'm too lazy to iron my own clothes so I certainly wont ever be ironing a guy's shirts

Ha ha. I remember trying the same trick re ironing shirts on an ex girlfriend, 'but you're so good at doing them, far better than me' but alas this time it didn't work. Damn. Clearly I need to work on my delivery!

Exactly he expects it as his due and women should iron because they are women. This was Luisa's point. Wtf with the sheet ironing, life is too short for that for sure and what was the lads mags remark.
These days both partners work so surely housework should be shared equally. In Jims opinion he can lounge after his days work but his wife must turn into another days work of ironing, cooking etc. The guy is a chauvinist and proud.

I would, only because he doesn't expect me to. I iron my clothes; he irons his and we both iron our son's.
